    How's it going everyone,
Now that I've received my notebook back from repair, it seems as though I'm finally up to speed. I can now load just about any driver and play without the constant crashes. I've been playing around with Nvidia new beta driver 167.51 and the laptopvideo2go driver 174.16. In either case, Crysis plays, but sometimes has a sound stuttering issue where it momentarily slows down and then pics up. Does anyone know how to cure the sound stutter issue? Also, I noticed that you always have to tell Crysis to run in full screen mode if your using the 174.16 driver. If you use the 167.51 driver, it resolves it and goes to full screen automatically as expected. What is the best driver for crysis that also satisfies UT3 and Asassin's Creede?

    Thanks,
    Gabe

@GabeZ - I have that same exact sound stuttering issue. Try EightD's guide and get the brand new realtek drivers for your M9750.

    Hi Stone,
Thanks for the info. I'll give that driver a shot. Apparantly, a lot of people seem to be having that odd stutter issue. For some odd reason, when my computer was in lemon status, it didn't stutter.......but it didn't let me play more than 5 minutes either. Now I can play just fine, but there's a pause here and there.....this may be normal. What driver have you had the best luck with? And do you have to tell Crysis to run in full screen all the time as well?

    Thanks,
    Gabe

    Hi Stone,
I gave that new sound driver a try, and unfortunately, the stuttering continues. Maybe a patch will come out or something.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Hmm. Well here is what I did and it actually fixed it. First, I downloaded the new intel drivers, then I downloaded the new realtek drivers listen in EightD's guide. After that I made sure that my power options under CPU were set to 100% minimum and 100% maximum. I was actually having the problems until I did this.

    Hi Stone,
I'm assuming you're talking about intel chipset drivers possibly? Also, the only power option I'm aware of in vista is the "High Performance" one. Let me know if this what you mean.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

    1. Yes I was talking about the intel chipset drivers.
    2. You go the power options > high performance > "advanced power options" minimum processor state "set to 100%" > maximum processor state "set to 100%".

    Hey Stone,
Thanks for the continued support. I was wondering where you got your intel chipset drivers. Did they come off of the intel website? If so, which one did you use? Currently, I'm only using the AW chipset driver.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Try at your own risk though. I don't know I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and eventually the problem seemed to go away. It may still be there though, I haven't had the time to do thorough testing, sorry.

    Hey Gabe,

Did you solve your problem? I have the exact same symptoms you described in Crysis (Game runs just fine with all-of-a-sudden annoying sound stutters). Could you try to play the Diablo 3 videos on Blizzard Website, they produce a similar issue on my m9750.

How often do you all check for your driver updates? I'm just curious as to which drivers I must check for and install, and how often.
I was never one to update drivers on a regular basis and only thought I had to update the graphics card driver once a year or something. Nobody ever really explained system maintenance to me.
Also, where is the best place to get all your updated drivers on one constantly updated page? Is there such a place? (Some Nvidia driver names can also be a bit confusing to me).

Sounds like people check for chipset drivers too though. I'm just worried that I'm supposed to check constantly and update everything that runs my computer!

"If it ain't broken, don't fix it" sums it all in that domain. Your games run smoothly, you're not witnessing random crashes or sub-par performances, then by all means, don't look for trouble.

As you can see from my post, I have a specific sound issue with Crysis and the Diablo 3 videos, it annoys me enough to tap into the knowledge of the community and go fish for drivers if there is hope it will solve my problem.

Otherwise, I woulda stayed in my hole and kept on gaming!
