i read somewhere that m17x can't switch between igp and ati gpu's without restarting is this true? Is Alienware going to implement that ability or has some one found a work around? I tried searching but don't really know what i'm actually searching for. Searched using a few keywords but nothing relevant came up. :(

Yeah, if you get ATi GPUs then you gotta restart to switch to the 9400M.

i don't know if i like that sure it may only take 20 seconds to restart computer but having to restart the computer after every game i play or every time i go to college (takes an hour just to drive to college if traffics good). I want ati graphics but i want to be able to load a game and not go "oh thats right i need to reboot my computer so i can use the gpus." have to exit game and reboot computer. the play nvidia or any of the company logos intros annoy me especially when you can't bypass them like in borderlands.

or you could just check before you launch the game by opening HW monitor to monitor temps and let you know ...

the hybrid sick anyway and need to be turned off.... the feature is useless since it limits your drivers

it limits the drivers you can have; that's true but would it be possible to just modify the 9400 driver to recognize and talk to ati without modifying any of the other drivers? thus only limiting the 9400 driver
