    completely disabling the raid array

    Hey guys, i just tried installing ubuntu but at the partition page it basicly only showed that I have a raid array ???? when i got my m17x it did have a raid array but i have disabled it, maybe I did it wrong ? i just changed the hd mode from raid to ata in the bios, is that the right way ?

    You need to understand how RAID works. Your data is striped between the two drives, and if you want to disable the raid array you will have to completely wipe and reformat your drives. If you just turn off the raid array, there will be no coherent file system on either drive.

    yeah i formated them months ago(running w7 on one and using the second for storage) but its still showing me that thing

    cpaqf1, does your computer on start up cycle back to the F10 respawn screen and say windows did not start normally? I have two drives in mine and am working out that problem when I get time and know another forum member who is also having the problem. Just wonder if you experienced this after reformatting and disabling the RAID
