Okay guys I have the money ready but

I cannot decide whether i should get the m15x or the m17x.

    I am completely torn apart.

I game quite a bit and weight/portability is no problem. So how much weaker is the single 260m vs single 4870.

Also if i order the m17x I will get the T8600. So would games run better with the i7 or with the improved graphics card.

No comparison. 4870 > 260M. I don't know how to explain "how much weaker" the 260M but there's a significant difference.

As for CPUs. I assume by T8600 you mean T9600 as there are no T8600s available for the M17x. In which case, the combo of 4870 + 2.8GHz (which can be overclocked to reach speeds of 3.1GHz and higher) far outweights the i7s available (once again, no idea which i7 you are talking about).

    M17x > M15x in this situation.

edit: a single 4870 is the same price as two 260Ms. You know what that means? Go for the dual 260Ms instead of the 4870 in the M17x.

I just cross referenced the American site with the Canadian site and found out that, if red doesn't bother you, the M17x is on sale for a base of $1799 in Nebula Red.

For either site, the prices were the equivalents. The 4870's price was equal to that of the Dual 260Ms.

How do we know how much better the 4870s are then anything since no one here has one yet? Besides dells little chart that is. Is it 100% that they use gddr5?

If portability is not an issue then by all means go for the m17x, games are more gpu intensive then cpu so the i7 is not going to play a huge part in this debate

I agree to take the 260s unless you just really want the 4870 or you could just go for the 1999 deal for the m17x (nebula red, dual 260s, etc) can't find the link atm tho

Okay, whether they are GDDR5 or not they outclass the 260M.

And this isn't 260M hate, I love the 260M, I have two myself. But I'm just trying to give all the information possible to this person.

Well the reason I got an M15x was because I need as much portability as I can get because I'm going to be using it for school. I am hoping when the 5000s come out I can upgrade, if not ebay and rebuy.

Whoops, I'm sorry I got confused between US and CAD (and it seems my eyesight was screwed at that moment).

The normal version of the M17x is $1799 US and $1999 CAD. The Special Edition Nebula Red M17x is $1999 US.

And yes boomer, the price will be $1999 for the base Canadian M17x. The site uses flash and doesn't save configurations, like I said you'll have to configure it yourself.
