Do you have another PC that connects to the same network without such issues? After all it can be as simple as a router or ISP problem.

right click on your connections icon, open network and sharing center, open manage network connections, right click local area connection ethernet and disable it :)

You don't have to disable your ethernet. There is a default setting that puts your network adapteri to sleep after a few minutes. When you install the new chipset updates, it turns this 'feature' on automatically for some reason.

Under network and sharing center, find your wireless connection and click it, then click the properties button in the bottom left corner of the window. Select your Broadcom Network Adapter and click configure. Under the Power management tab there is a checkbox that says 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Make sure it is unchecked. I believe thats all I did and both the wifi and the ethernet run fine on mine without disabing anything.

Ironically, I went through all of it and couldn't solve the problem, until checked the router and it was the reason - the router was overheating (YES!) and dropping connections.
