I have a new Alienware M17x notebook that I received a couple of days ago, tonight the cpu is running at 100% it will drop down to 80-85 % and then back up. I only have one internet page open, not running anything else, even trying to go to another internet site is painfully slow. I didn't do a clean install when I received my notebook. Need help????

    Spec:
    T9600
    4gb 1333mhz ram
    250gb harddrive
1gb dual 260 GTX video cards

    perfmon.exe
    wmiprv.exe
    svchost.exe (netsvcs)
    svchost.exe (dcom launch)

These are the ones that seem to be using the most cpu usage.

As you said cpu usage is at 100% there must be a process that uses at least 80%+

I checked the ones that I mentioned they keep flutuating up and down with the svchost.exe (netsvcs) running the highest usually about 50 cpu usage, there are a few other processes but they were only at about 5 or 6 cpu usage.

I am running windows 7 home premium if that makes any difference.

A few people have complained about command center being the culprit.

I will uninstall the command centre to see if that fixes it. It's not a virus I am using Eset Nod32 and have scanned it. The system is painfully slow to do anything but it could be that command center as I was checking things out last night but I was positive that I shut that off.

Perhaps try another Command Center version, or re-install it.

I will try that, is it available on the website? If I do a clean install of the o/s will it wipe out the respawn partition?

I did a reinstallation of the software but it didn't make any difference the system is still running at 100% so I am going to call Alienware tech support

Well it looks like the windows was corrupt and so was the respawn partition so tech support had me delete the partitions and load windows with the windows disk, still doing the drivers and installing the applications so hopefully it will work better.
