I wanted to know if crysis will work on a m15x system with the 8600 GT graphics card, 2.4ghz, and the 2gb of ram. if it does how well do you think it will run. i mean i know the GTX graphics card is better but i just want to know if it will be able to handle the game without something like lag.

According to the m1530 review found here
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4135
you get around 20 fps. the m1530 is pretty mucht he same spec as the one m15x you are about to get. With only 20 fps it is not really playable.
EDIT: i dunno what the specs crysis were when they did the benchmark though:/
EDIT2: >> the specs they used were
The Crysis demo was played using 1280x800 resolution, anti-aliasing off, fullscreen, all advanced quality/texture settings were set to medium. -
If you're not going to get the 8800( Not Recommended), at least get the 8700M GT if you're going to play modern games.

If you're not getting an 8800M GT, with coupons, a XPS m1530 will cost about $1200 with the same specs as the Alienware m15x, so it might be better to get that or a MacBook Pro (a little cheaper).

crysis manages to stay above 17 fps with custom settings with my 8800m gtx. i could imagine your 8600 , it would get blown away.

BTW, I've seen Crysis running a steady 20-25fps with shaders and shadows on medium and everything else on high (at a 1024x768 resolution, though) on DirectX9 on an 8600M GT (as long as you use custom drivers. So no problems with the card

Sure, you can do that. But the fact is that unless you have shaders and shadows on high, Crysis won`t feel as realistic as it does on a 8800M GTX.
crysis on m15x
