The first Crysis installed fine. I put Warhead in and entered the code and it starts installing. It goes for about 5 mins then stops and the disc makes the same noise until i cancel it. It has no scratches or dings on the disc.

I would recommend checking Dell Support for a possible firmware upgrade for your drive. Also, you may want to try another DVD/CD just for testing purposes.
Thanks

The firmware on the dell site is not compatible with my drive apparently.

Had similar problem and it worked fine after a restart. Looks like firmware update is indeed required. We'll have to wait till Dell has one for our drives.

they don't have a firmware update for blu-ray drives?
-
I don't have a blue-ray and none of the updates they have fits.

I had this same problem with warhead...don't cancel it, just let it chug and churn and it should eventually start and finish the install...it did that for about 10-15 minutes before it finally installed. I believe it has something to do with the form of copy protection that it uses and the type of dvd drive that is in the m17x. At least that was my experience...so what I did, is let it go and it'll either come up with an error, or in my case eventually install (once it's installed it runs fine and mine was brand new with no scratches as well)
I had canceled it several times because of this very problem, and decided to just let it go and sure enough it worked -
thanks. i will just let it run.
