    dell + 3rd party parts = void warranty

    2 Dell reps have told me any parts bought third party (not through dell) will void the warranty. :mad: :eek:

    Not true.

    Whatever parts you do not buy from Dell aren't covered. Always keep original parts to swap back in for warranty work.

    Screw them, I'm not going to let them tell me my warranty is void at a later date just because I changed my RAM.

    What they mean is that the third part parts arent covered by **their** warranty. If anything goes wrong with the system the original parts as Sleey0 says have to be installed back in for the warranty.

    It's to bad threads with inflammatory titles like this, once found to be incorrect, aren't deleted. Or at lest have the title changed.
