    Yes Dell owns Alienware.

However, if you purchased the computer through Alienware, you still have to use thier repair centers/process. Correct me if I am wrong... Just what I have picked up.

As far as I know, only the M17x is handled by dell labeled avenues..

Best suggestion would be to call them and ask for sure

    Correct.

The first and currently the only system to be truly cross-company is the M17x.

Other systems that were sold via Alienware are still under their crappy warranty terms and service.

I hope that all AW systems will be sold thru Dell in the future :D

most likely they will transition all the sales to the dell site, the fact that their flagship is on it is a good sign.

actually some of the AW facilitys were shut down so that AW system would be built in Dell factory's.

BUT you still have to send it through AW you can't drop it off ;)

I can confirm that Dell in fact owns Alienware as a company. The M17X, although it's a group effort, is solely supported by Dell and their XPS team (Team Titan, Team Blackhawk, etc). Everything else is supported by the Alienware division. The M17X has onsite support while the rest of the Alienware systems don't and have to be sent in for repair.

    Thanks,
    Gabe
