    Hi all,

I am looking for a powerfull + mobile workstation with top-notch display quality. And I am a fan of Dell service here in Europe. :) Besides audio/video my biggest passion is photography.

As far as I find in specs the 17" should have a 24-bit color dual CCFL display with 1440x900 or prefered 1920x1200. So far very promising - but the M17x is heavy... :D

This report here shows good sRGB gamut:

So maybe perfect display here like in Lenovos W700 Thinkpad. 8 Bit resolution for color, good sRGB gamut (no wide gamut  ) should be good for top quality. CCFL has general better color temperature uniformity...

    ad Alienware M15x:

only very poor information - W-LED and 1600x900 or 1920x1080 resolution...

This report tell us sRGB gamut is okay, contrast and luminance too. Sadly they did never tell us about greyscale or color temperature or definitve gamut... :(

In past I measured the 15.6" W-LED screen in Dell XPS Studio 16 > very accurate gamut for sRGB, but greyscale a desaster... Maybe similar screen in Alienware M15X? Please see attached files for info about. Color temperature is going to nirvana  Similar behaviour saw on many LED displays...

Maybe an owner profiled his Alienware and have good report about it? Thanks for any help. Dell/Alienware customer support can not help me...

    Best + Thanks, Walter
