hi! I'm in florida now and soon will be moving to LA, California! and my experience is that I have a US mail address in FL and when ordering online usually they do NOT charge taxes while they do in CA!

does AW charges taxes in florida? I want to order before it's too late! :(

If the order gets shipped to Florida then they will charge the applicable taxes in Florida. If it gets shipped to California Dell will charge California taxes. Thats all they are legally required to do.

Yep, as long as a store has a "physical" presence in a state, they have to collect taxes.
SO, any state you order from in the U.S. dell/alienware has a "physical" presence so they charge you tax.

If you are trying to save $$ on taxes just check what the difference in tax rate is between cali and florida (I think cali is higher but not sure)

Unless you are tax exempt (which you need to provide verification for), you will pay your applicable state taxes. Delaware do not have sales tax (lucky for purchasing stuff).

Why order online? Ordering through the phone can save you a significant amount of money, providing that we're talking about new Alienwares and not the Dell Outlet ;)

Dell Outlet does sell new laptops. They are rare, and you can filter Previously Ordered New. These are typically wrong orders, refused orders, etc. Though the prices are sometimes outrageous.

That's what I said :p He planned on ordering online and I mentioned that it's better to call in and get a deal with a rep over the phone unless he plans on using the outlet which you cannot bargain with :)
