    Not necessarily.

While I prefer LED-based displays, a good CCFL LCD will demolish it in terms of colors.

A good CCFL such as the TLA2 (even with it's single lamp) would be my #1 choice along with an RGBLED LCD.

CCFL is cold-cathode fluorescent display. It is what has been in LCD's ever since they were invented. lol

You have one in your M17x :)

Anyway, the TLA2 is an LG panel that is regarded to be the best 17" WUXGA panel ever made. It is a single bulb but still throws out 300+ nits of brightness..

If your up to it, ben!

There are A LOT of ppl here that want to see how to take apart the E2E display.

We are not talkin about just taking the lcd of the system but the actual lcd panel out of the edge-2-edge casing.

    No. lol

Take the LCD out of the casing. I don't know how else to explain it.

The back panel is the first step, yes. But we want to get the actual lcd panel of of there.

You'll see a white Samsung sticker on the panel. Get the entire panel out (if you can!).

I believe the front plastic is sealed with glue so your gonna need heat and a sharp exacto blade.

See #3 in this pic (this is a traditional laptop bezel, not the M17x):

so you want to know how to take it out of the case....it was easy on the back of the case there is the flash pannel small you pull that down there are two screws holding it in place ....when that is off there are 4 more screws holding on the lcd to the back pannel...from there push up and its out....

Are you sure? Have you done it already?

So it just slides out of the top where the point is?

I think your talking about the back panel only, right?

The hardest part of the whole procedure will be trying to avoid getting dust behind the glass which is super easy and the harder it is to get out of there and put back in the more likely you are to get dust trapped behind it . a couple bits of dust will stand out like a sore thumb since the light will magnify them along with the glass.

The biggest complaint about the M17x is the auto-contrast "feature" of the lcd. And it cannot be turned off.

SO, the more experienced members here will put our own lcd panels in it :D
