Is it possible to enable Alienrespawn after clean I performed a clean install?

I did format my hard drive before the install BUT i made sure this didnt include the alienrespwan partition, i can still see the partition under window's disk management.

    Any ideas?

Did you do a clean install with an AlienRespawn Disc? or a regular OS Recovery Disc or Retail OS Disc?

If you did do it with an AlienRespawn Disc, it will still show up. If its still there if you did the other methods, I don't know why it's still there.

you can try this, although most have reported failure when trying on a clean install. the patch is supposed to correct the MBR to recognize the Respawn Partition.

I used the "m17x resource dvd" that came with my system.. What is the difference between this and an "alienrespawn dvd"?

I'm one of those people who have a failure when trying to use that. I performed a clean install of windows 7.

as long as the AW Respawn partition still there you can still use it to restore your system, even if "F10" doesnt work you can use software like >Gparted< to force your pc to boot from the AW respawn partition.

Sorry to hear it. Well, with all the failures trying this its now apparent that its only going to help those upping from Vista.

Two options at this point, keep the partition and see if they release another patch designed for clean installs or kill the partition and forget about Respawn. :(

or do like DJ_Pawel said and force the respawn partition as bootable..it should work. remove the other partition and it'll boot from the only flagged partition onb the drive, the respawn partition. had to do this on an older HP with a recovery partition.

Agreed - its a great workaround. For those migrating to W7 it does become a bit pointless as the respawn partition is going to have the vista image on it. Respawn provides the option to launch the Windows Restore Point environment which can help users as well.

I guess in the end it all becomes a bit pointless if you actually use an aftermarket backup/drive image soulution.

Exactly. Everyone should be backing up their system one way or another on a regular basis anyway. ASSUMING THAT, if you have upgraded to 7, you may as well delete the respawn partition and reclaim some of that space at least until Alienware gets their software up to date with 7. It isnt going to do you any good anyway because, as Batboy said, its going to revert back to Vista, you will have to re-upgrade to 7 (and call Microsoft for the priviledge of doing so) and you are still not going to have all the neat little alienware programs for 7. Lessons: 1) Back your system up YOURSELF. 2)Back your system up EXTERNALLY.

Moreover, why do you want to access the respawn partition anyway if you just did a clean install of 7? It is going to put you back in Vista.

    For more info, look here.

If you reinstall using respawn, the partition will always be there since it was part of your system when it shipped (respawn disc is an image of the hard drive before being shipped)

You used the resource dvd that only contains the OS. Not quite sure why the partition is still there when you did a full format. Unless the OS has the partition built into that disc also...

The reason why the partition is still there is because i formated the partition that had the OS in the first place. But the partition with alienrespawn was untouched.
