if after you update the BIOS the OS isn't found and you have a raid 0 hard drive check that your RAID is turned on by pressing F2(?) during startup.

for some reason my raid was turned off by the bios update and it was only recognizing the harddrive that didn't have my OS.

    hope that helps.

The bios update resets your bios to factory default which doesn't include RAID.

This happened to me, but I didn't have a RAID setup at all, so I reinstalled Win7, which seemed to fix it >.>

Did you by any chance try running the Windows 7 repair options first?

Worse still if you have RAID 1. Windows will still boot, install drivers for the new drive controller and basically kill your mirror :p.

Raid 1 should be 100% safer because you only need one disk to work. This means you can pull one disk before even doing the upgrade. Simply re-mirror once the upgrade is complete.
