hey i was wondering if it boosts the systems volume. i currently have theese bose speakers that have way to much bass. i would like to ditch them and just use the ozma heaphones i have with the external soundcard. but i need the volume louder, does the sound card do this?

The external sound card is not hooked up to the internal speakers. The internal speakers are off when the sound card is hooked up.

it depends what external speakers and amp you will be using. ive also ordered the external sound card and i will be running 1000watt rms speakers (is that loud enough) :D

EDIT: or you can get one of these http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=208&product=16779

to be honest i think the best way would be to run it through a small mixer or graphic equalizer.

i dont think the soundcard has a volume control but the external speakers you fit to it will and that is where you get the volume from.

    hmm interesting
i did some reseach on this, even went into the headphone forums
i found out that for the sound i want...
im gonna get the creative soundblaster x-fi external notebook card, and with a mini-mini cable, hook that up to a small amp (im gonna get the HeadRoom Total Airhead one) and use that amplify my headphones (AKG K601's) by plugging headphones into amp...
this way u can get u headphones ampd up and have louder and better sound quality, and stil get to use the sweet features the soundcard has to offer like 3d sound, n stuff for movies n games...
basically an amp for ur headphones will help it get louder sound and a better drive to them, and u can hook that up to ur soundcard for xtra software features. most headphones wont require an amp, so u might be fine, but for power hungry headphones, or if u just want best sound possible, and headphone amp will help u achieve this
    hope that helps...
