so you just got a brand new $2000+ laptop, eh? you can just hook up a beige Microsoft mouse from 1998. i recommend going with logitech g7. after a 5 doller coupon, i got it for 59.99 with tax. the best thing about this mouse is that its basically the only wireless "gaming" mouse available. i got the silver one to match the m15x. its comes with 2 rechargeable battery packs so its good for travel.

(if a mod wants to move this to accessories or gaming thats fine, i just think its really good for the alienware m15x)

i did not order the m15x yet but i will order one soon. i bought a razer deathadder for the m15x. i just have to wait until i get a m15x to use it since i want my mouse to be just as new as the alienware is going to be.

I own a G7 with my desktop pc. It's awesome but the feet pads have worn down and it doesn't slide as smooth as it used to. Also the surface is very prone to get messed by even slightly sticky fingers leaving a visible residue. I was personally planning on getting the razer deathadder myself for this one.

G5 was still their best one by far. Loving mine. Absolutely no wear and tear.

i also have a logitech g9. eventhough it doesnt look as good as the razer i would still recommend it because it performs really well too. if i already had a razer for my desktop i would of bought a g9 for the m15x

This would be better in accessories, but I can turn this into an "m15x accessories thread" and leave it here. Let me know which you want. :)

I would have to add another vote for the deathadder. By far the best mouse ive used. The only downside is that its corded. If you want a wireless mouse i would say go for the g5.

I have the normal Logitech VX. Theres a switch on the bottom to change from free-spin to click-by-click mode. Maybee your friend uses free-spin. For gaming it has only 800 dpi, but for me its enough.

the prices at alienware are realy expensive, normaly they should give a discount when you buy a 3000$ Notebook. but you can get the mouse everywhere cheaper than that. Its only for the stupid that also buy the 4GB Ram option.

I have the razer deathadder and the logitech mx5500 set. I wanted the bluetooth wireless so I didn't have to put a dongle in the laptop and I still need the deathadder for gaming. I don't have a complaint about either.

Are those logitech "GAMING" mice really worth ? Can't we just use a simple wireless mouse ? I'm just asking since that's what I've always been doing.. :)

The Razer Lachesis is the best Razer mouse that is out right now (highest reviewed). They apparently have a new mouse coming out next week though as they sent me a teaser email to a dummy website with a countdown clock. You can get a glimpse of the mouse for a split second before the clock appears. I'll post the link...

    Edit: http://www.speedofthelight.com/

Razer also has a new mousepad called the "Destructor" for anyone interested. Comes with a padded carrying case.

ive tried the lachesis and i like the feel of the deathadder wayyy better. I dont like the flare of the lachesis and i dont need the extra buttons behind the click wheel. also i love how on the deathadde the top is one piece with a slit down the middle. Looks cool and clicks very well.

The lachesis is a horrible mouse...... If you actually read NON BIASED reviews of the mouse you will see that it's not a very comfortable mouse. The extra buttons are nice but who needs them while playing First person shooters. I'd say the mouse is good for people who are key binding things in World of Warcraft... other then that the lachesis is an uncomfortable mouse with a horrible design.

Also, what's the point of having side buttons if they're hard as hell to push? If you're looking for one of the best mice on the market... try the deathadder.

edit: I have owned both mice and this is from my own personal experience as well as many of the other reviews I have seen on the net from various magazines + websites. I bought the lachesis and returned it to bestbuy 2 hours later.

doesent alienware always include a matching keyboard/mouse with thier desktops? oh god for bid they gave us a little alienware bluetooth mouse action. btw i see a lot of talk about the g5. the g7 is almost the exact same thing, yet wireless. and it has one less thumb button. the g9 is really comfortable too. i just wish it was wireless or silver!

The deathadder is the best gaming mouse I've owned. I'm more of a lower sensitivity gamer, so the laser mice do nothing for me and they don't track as well on different surfaces.

I'm really digging my MX Revolution (bluetooth version) too. The only complaint I have with it, is the scroll wheel click is soft and not as responsive as I like, but since I'm not using it for gaming, its only real purpose is to open links in new tabs and closing tabs. Otherwise its a top notch mouse.

I am a mouse junkie, always in search of the "ideal" mouse. I have tried everythign from the lachesis, MS gaming mouse, Logitech MX Revolution, G5, G7, MX-500, MX-518... just about every wireless notebook mouse I could find....

One less known mouse that I just picked up at Newegg, is the SteelSeries Ikari . Very, very comfortable mouse. Just the right number of buttons, very accurate, seemingly well made. I got it for $69.99 at Newegg, so far very happy with it.

Out of all of my others, I use them for a few weeks and always seem to go back to the Logitech MX-518. I have had both of my Razer mice go bonkers, all the sudden acting like they had brain damage (erratic movement, to no movement, to movement on their own...) I am not so sold on their QC.

The wireless mice with rechargeable batteries always seem to die at the wrong time. The logitech with the replaceable battery cartridges I thought was a cool solution until I used it awhile and got to the point where the battery life was less than a sitting at a time.... couple that with the big recharging stations (a problem with the MX revolution as well) soured me on them. The original G-5 had too few buttons for my taste, the revamped one is a bit like a MX-518 on steroids (same mold it seems) but the buttons seem to be a bit mushy for my taste.

Although the MX-518 is an older mouse, it seems to be built for the long haul. The buttons seem to be of higher quality, have a clear and not mushy feel. The shape fits me very well, its quick enough, can be found for alot less than most of the others mentioned here. ( I use it on both mac and PC using no software .... ). I always view the MX-518 as the sherman tank of gaming mice, nothing flashy or high tech, just a reliable workhorse of a mouse.

Can anyone recommend a decent gaming mouse than can be used in the left hand?

I have used a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical for years (symmetrical design rev. 2 - rev. 1, I also owned, but optical was new back then and if moved it too fast the cursor would go ape on the screen!). It is brilliant and if it wasn't for the fact it's now going yellow from being used and scrubbed clean so much with isopropyl I'd keep it :).

I recently purchased a rather expensive Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 (bluetooth), to use with my PS3. It is a 5 button mouse the same as my original one, but the 5 buttons cannot be used on the PS3 (only 3) and tbh the 2 side buttons are very small and are hard to use.

I need something with at least 2 side buttons, but not a complete right handed mould:- like most companies manufacture these days. I'm also a fairly low sensitivity player.

Anyone point me in the right direction (or left!) :D

You can lower the DPI with a deathadder as well.... lol...... You can also change the sensitivity of the deathadder in the control panel that the drivers give you

plus on the fly profiles... the deathadder and the lachesis both go down to 800 dpi... so i dont see what charnley is saying... btw im a high sensitivity gamer because i really like those snappy awp/headshots in cs.

    ew high sensitivity ;o
heh - played cal-invite for 5+ years. We always stuck with low sensitivity. There's actually a command to increase zoom speed, so you could have high sens when zoomed with awp and low sens for everything else.. which I like much better.

Do you play in CAL at all lasix?

if you go to razer blueprints which is a forum dedicated to razer products you will find out that most people find the lachesis unusable. razer blueprints is the place you want to go since reviewers dont tell you about the problems the lachesis is having atm.
