so after buying the expensive alienware rig, dell emailed me eGiftcard worth $150

i've been saving it to buy something nice. finally, a couple nights ago, i was about to pull the

trigger and found out that it was expired 1 day ago!

ok. so i have only myself to blame. but i called dell anyway to see if they can do anything about it.

they said - unequivocally - NO. there's nothing they can do once it expires.

just a reminder to people who have those pesky eGiftcard - use it today! don't be an idiot like me!~ :) :)

Thanks for the public service announcement :D I'll be sure to use mine asap. Probably just upgrade my warranty with it.

Excellent idea. I'm not sure what I will do with mine.

    Thanks for the notice, Jeff.

I never got a giftcard. Do you have to spend over a certain amount to get one?

You get one when you apply for the Dell Preferred program when purchasing your laptop.

You might be able to appeal against expiration of any gift card. There are laws out there that just need to be found and used. I just had a quick google and come up with this: Gift Cards and Gift Certificates Statutes and Legislation

You may want to contact Dell and see if they are prepared to re-issue you with a new GC......I know if it were me, I wouldn't be sat back saying "Oh well......"

That's a great link, Steve. Thanks for posting it. Depending on the circumstances and what kind of gift card it is, it may not be Alienware that is required to honor it. It might be the financial institution they purchase gift cards from that has to have their feet held to the fire for violation of regulations on gift cards. It will require some investigation. I have never seen one. Is there any information on the card about who the issuer is? There may be more information, including a hyperlink or phone number printed on the back of the gift card.

That is what I believe it is. The cards are branded by Dell, but are not provided by Dell themselves. It's similar to how the DPA works, it's financed through a third-party bank/institution (or so I remember reading, don't quote me on that).
