so from my constant playing of demos and testing. the only problem games i find are:

crysis: only on medium or with mod (even then fps drops too low at some points)

fsx: only at medium or high with many features off or lowerd

lord of the rings online: can run almost maxed but with several things off otherwise fps drops to around 25.

world in conflict: has belo2 20 fps in dx 10.

alright so what gaming flaws of the m15x have i missed? :D

What resolution do you have? Crysis plays fine for me at high settings with 1440x900 resolution.

I have no problems with crysis on high even during intense firefights. Very high, that has problems but not with high

I think I left off in that giant bubble where everything is covered in ice. Right after you leave the alien ship...

I've had some slow downs here and there but nothing approaching unplayable at all. I'd guess 25-35 fps most of the time.

yeah check stealth mode. Anyway I have an 8700m and I run crysis fine on medium I can't imagine the 8800 having any trouble even at higher settings.

So far I've played the witcher and neverwinter nights 2 both of which play nicely witcher is on medium.

I belive the 8800gtx is way stronger than 8700. I have the 8600 OC close to 8700 and everything is fine when I played with medium

Do you have the latest GPU drivers (Beta 175.80) from AW as well ?
Maybe groove75's and lineazy89's notebooks shipped with them/they updated them..

    Hope this helps :)

Ps. I noticed you have 2GB RAM Lethal.. lineazy89 has got 4GB, dunno about groove75 though..

Im not sure if its every m15x but mine has problems with only TF2. TF2 goes down to 30 fps in fights with alot of people in it... I have no downclocking and temps stay at around 80. The last time i ran 3dmark i got 9995 so i dont think theres a problem with the video card. I also heard that the people who have a 8800 GT(desktop) are having a problem running TF2 also. I do think its the games fault since if i lower the graphics down to low i still get the same fps. Maybe around 4 or 5 fps higher. Im also using 175.80 driver.

No other game does this other than TF2. Why did valve have to make TF2 more cpu intensive. They need to make it more GPU intensive :(

My M17X runs around 30fps on lotr and I have the dual 8600 gpu. But it depends on the server. If I have 8 to 30 people on it very low. At night when I play It like 30 fps.

2gb here... and yes I'm running the new beta's. However, when I did most of my crysis gaming before, it was on the older drivers.

Good deal, that sounds about right. No clue on the other games as I haven't played them yet. I haven't really found a game that gave me many problems. Crysis would probably be the closest one.

Hey guys lets get real here, Crysis on the m15x with latest beta drivers plays like crap at 1440x1280. I play it at 1024 with 2x anti for best game play and the difference playing it direct on the laptop is minimum at 1024 compared to the full 1440 setting. The lag you get is unplayable during intense firefights at 1440 with high settings. You can walk around and run around at 1440 but as soon as a real fightfight happens watch frame rates drop to 10-20 fps or worse.

I have m15x, 2.8ghz, 4 gig ram, 8800 best ghx card + latest drivers. I'm on vista but performance drop can't be that much over xp.

Love this laptop but don't enjoy playing games at 20-30 fps just cause there a little prettier. Its crysis though great game either resolution. Still looks good even at 1024.

Sambuka, thanks for being objective. The M15x is a laptop, not a miracle. It does play nice, but pull those settings up and it will lag when doing something rather than running around and apreciating the view.

Sambuka, are you aware of the influence of your CPU on the gameplay though? You have the extreme processor and it's a know issue that the CPU overheats and downclocks. Maybe that is contributing to the drop on performance as well.

To all... What's the difference between the new beta drivers and the old ones in terms of performance? How do 3Dmark06 values compare? Has anyone monitored clocks during iddle and gameplay? Can anyone post graphs of these?

    Cheers,
    M.

the new drivers will increase you 3dmark point a bit. And about Crysis, the cpu wont really matter in crysis since most of the work is done with the video card. Crysis is one of worse optimized games ever

maybe this sounds crazy, but for its graphics, i think Crysis is alright. many games run more slugish than it, and they have 1/10 of Crysis Graphics. Optimizations can be done alright but..

    Lets hope for warhead! :D

Oddly enough I am having issues with Titan Quest: Immortal Throne.

The game runs perfectly (it's not a brand-new game), but at the end of immortal throne there is a whole bunch of lightning leading up to the end boss guy.

Anyway the game completely slows to a crawl. I have not captured the FPS but it is really impossible to play at that rate. I have managed to kill the boss a few times but it is like watching a slide show of the battle in slow motion.

Anyone else have titan quest and the m15x, have the same issue?

Oh! And the weird part is if I turn the graphics all the way down it makes no difference at all! So I am not sure what that means.

the game might be more optimized to the cpu. at least thats what valve did to tf2 and pretty much made me stuck at 30 fps when im in a place where there is a lot of action. before that terrible patch came out i never dropped 60 >>.

Dawn, how is Immortal Throne? I played the original Titan Quest but never finished it and was thinking of buying Imm Throne on Steam to wet my appetite for Diablo 3. Fun?

People have different opinions of it. You can't go wrong by purchasing it, that's for sure. It's a technological pinnacle in fps gaming which adds value regardless of the gaming experience. Similar to Doom 3. Was Doom 3 really THAT good of a story and game? Not really, but it was pioneering for its time which made it THE game to play that year. I feel the same about Crysis. It's beautiful to play but I'm not really crazy about the story and the "suit" gimmicks that the game is completely based upon. The game just reinforce to me how much of a pansy I would be without my super suit to protect me from the big bad aliens and "vietcong".

The expansion adds a ton of neat stuff to the main game! I really like it.

It is getting me excited about Diablo 3. I can't wait.

Anyway I tried playing Titan Quest without the expansion and was not impressed. However the base game with the expansion is much better because of the extra stuff and extra "bags" for your inventory, etc.

When you play the expansion, you have to play the main quest over again though. I was really confused about that at first.
