Yikes!Good god no, get a decent set of headphones, if you've got to get headset as you need a mic, get the Razer Carachias, they're the best headset I've heard and are in a similar region sound quality wise to the Sennheiser HD555.
In the UK they're price equivalently (in headset terms) to a Sennheiser PC161...and the Carachias beat them into the ground, much more musical, none of Sennheisers head*sets* are amazing, the best are the PC350, but even then they're not blinding for all round use out the box, and they're far more expensive than they should be, given headphones using the same drivers can be had for about 3/4 of the price, at least in the UK, which sound better!

The Carachias simply use your normal green/red headphone jacks for the sound and mic, so no USB is not a must, although USB could help if your soundcard is terrible.

Another benefit of the Carachias is they're actually pretty cheap in comparison to the likes of the G35/Megaladon/SennPC350, do a search on them and they're actually pretty well reviewed, hell I even saw a decent review of them on headfi, and you wont find that for many headsets!

Something which is kinda telling though is that most people who've tried out decent headphones, don't tend to go back to a headset (unless they really need a mic!).

If you want to look into headphones, look at AKG, Goldring, Allesandro, Sennheiser, Beyer, Denon...the list goes on.
