I think he is not another JBean.
    He is just not knowledgeable.

We can share more knowledge with him.

even with the change you're still ultimately with the same company anyway (I know AW operates independantly...) but then you have an outdated rig...simple math says it's a bad move. I say let them fix your m17 and see what happens....

Ok so I went to Dell and tried out this configuration, I found it to cost 3604.

Now on AW, I got this:

    Video/Graphics Card: Dual 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 - CrossFireX™ Enabled!
    Processor: Intel® Core™2 Extreme X9100 3.06GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
Design & Display: Black Ripley Design
    Chassis: 17-Inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD (1200p) with Clearview Technology
Keyboard Options: Illuminated Keyboard – Alienware Exclusive Design - Astral Blue
Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Windows Vista® Ultimate (64-bit Edition) with Service Pack 1
Notebook Tuners and Remotes: Internal Digital / Analog (ATSC) TV Tuner with Adapter
    Memory: 4GB« Dual Channel DDR3 SO-DIMM at 1066MHz – 2 x 2048MB

System Drive: Single Drive Configuration - 250GB 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
    Optical Drives : Dual Layer Blu-ray Disc Reader (BD-ROM, DVD±RW, CD-RW )
Wireless Network Card: Internal Intel® Ultimate N 5300 a/b/g/Draft-N Mini-Card with MIMO Technology
    The World's First 450 Mbps Wi-Fi Adapter!

    for 3484.

I don't see the comparison?

If you want to compare, you should choose X9100 instead, which should be even faster than X9000 even with o/c. There is $350 different with QX9300.

You got to know what you are talking about.

Dude, you added the blueray which is $300 and tuner for $60. Deduct those and compare again.

It's your choice, if you don't believe me, then that's fine, the numbers are there.

I have both M1730 and M17 in front of me, btw.

If you choose base on your hatred, then it's another thing.
If you really want to compare the numbers, AW wins this time.

Who says Dell is without problems?
Who says Nvidia's cards are without problems.

My M1710 died on me twice because of the video card. And they dont even have any more video card for me to BUY to repair on the second time, so my total investment is gone to 0. YES, ZERO, just 2 months after 2 years.

    false info.

Crossfire had minimum 3 way of doing it.
    1 is 1/2 screen split.
    2 is alternate frame split.
    3...i forgot.

I think they choose the best one base on applications.

Ok then, you need to buy a dell because it's closer.
There is no point to get AW.

buying a computer because you live closer to something doesn't make as much sense as buying something better.

And you never know, one day you might not live there anymore.

8 pages of comments saying that hes making a mistake and he still insists.
Wont bother any more, if he wants to get something else with less money value and outdated then its his choice.

Not to mention the trouble of sending the laptop back to AW, waiting for the money, then wait for Dell (which own AW) to set up the new outdated laptop...

Yeah - this isn't going anywhere so this thread is closed.

Ajbeagles, make a thread in the What Should I Buy forum if you want suggestions for a new notebook.
