So, I received a new CPU and installed it today

booted up, the bios detect the CPU, ran windows.... I checked the temps... they're at around 40C. everything seemed fine.
played FIFA 2010 for an hour. no stuttering, no issues, no nothing.

then, suddenly, BSOD came up. the computer restarted and when it rebooted, my computer is "on battery". It IS plugged...and the battery is always fully charged. but still, it shows that it's running on battery.

So, i tried rebooting, and windows won't even come up anymore. Some crazy colors appeared on the screen so I thought maybe i did something while reassembling. I took everything apart again and reassembled and windows came up again. but i'm still on battery. Everything else is working fine except that one thing.

Did I damage something inside? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Another 3 BSOD's after making this post. can't run anything on Windows anymore. Can't even open My Computer to back up the files. Do you think it's just Windows problem?

PS. i upgraded the memory too.

Swap in the old memory and see what happens..

Also try resetting bios options to default..

If the BSOD's persist after trying Quad's suggestions, I suggest tearing down again and re-seating the CPU as well as checking all connections (SLI cable, etc.).

Swapped the memory and successfully booted Windows. Thanks Quad. I'll try different things for a while and report back here.

    ---------------------------

The battery problem is still there. Windows won't detect the Wi-Fi anymore. Everything else seems to be fine. No BSOD so far. I'm backing up my files now. Shall I try reinstalling Windows?

This is what I found in System Diagnostic BEFORE I swapped the memory.

    "Error Code 0123.
    Msg: Error Code 2000-0123
Msg: Memory - integrity test failed.
The given error code and message can be used by Technical Support to help diagnose the problem.
Do you want to continue testing."

    Your new RAM is defective.

I have had a similar call. A friend of mine has a system which has a defective RAM. Things froze and it appeared to be a virus attack (runs XP). I checked memory diagnostics, and it reported that memory integrity test failed. I swapped his RAM with mine, and it ran ok.

Strangely, when he went to the service guy for warranted replacement, that guy reformatted his C drive, and the system is running ok !! later I did a mem test, and it failed yet again !! The test shows charts of memory being misread, yet his system still runs as if nothing is wrong.

However, during attempts of installing vista, the system shows a blue screen stating a hardware change has occurred.
