I am interested in overclocking the processor/FSB on my original m17x-r1. I have been searching for any thread pertaining to that topic for a couple of days now and between the m17 and the new m17x I am swimming in spaghetti trying to find one.

    Can someone help me out?

Also anything already made on overclocking the GPU's would be nice - but I think I can handle that one on my own if not.

Also would also be interested in any mods i.e. coolers... One of my GPU's runs at 81 degrees at idle and it seems high. I am about to tear it down and see what I can find.

I wish there was a sticky for the m17x but it seems there isn't

    Thanks!

p.s. Please don't worry - I am fully aware I can damage my system by overclocking.

Your talking about the left gpu. that not quite under the vent. The right gpu is the one that sits right under the vent on top of the laptop.

My temps where 85c and 75c for the gpus.

The gpus are rated for up to 110c. So 85 not bad.

Thanks - I was about to embark on a long cooling enhancement journey, for nothing... :D

Anything else on the overclocking? It seems I could do it with setfsb but I have to know the timer chip - the chip id apparently is only to be found printed on the chip itself; a bit of a challenge to reach on a laptop.
