RAM is cheaper in the Philippines, 2GB DDR2-667 kit for only $50 with TAX. lol :D :D

    How about $30?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220229

Anyway, even if you are forced to get 'expensive' RAM and spend even $50 more than you have to, that's still peanuts relative to the thousands you're paying for the laptop. If you're stopping yourself from getting the m15x just cause you'll have to pay an extra $50, that's just crazy, frankly.

    no... not my point.

this is the picture I'd want to paint:

while I'm in US, I want to kill time by playing games as soon as my laptop comes (either I buy it, or I order it). I want to start gaming as soon as I open the box, bring the laptop out, plug it to the outlet, and then switch it on.

if I get the base m15x, then it'll ship with 1GB. that means I'd be playing here in US with games on Vista running only at 1GB RAM. and I assume that'll lag a bit.

unless someone tells me that I'll be fine with 1GB, Vista, and some games for THE MEAN TIME, then I'd probably get the m15x.

I hope you now understand what I meant. :D :D

i DON"T understand what you meant, you can't even spent 2 minutes to plug the extra RAM in?
buy the m15x from AW and RAM from newegg at the same time

exactly... that's what I was saying... plus I've pointed out how the Philippines doesn't have a monopoly on cheap RAM -- in fact, you're getting ripped off there

    lol... ok.

is newegg just an online store? doesn't it have an outlet like bestbuy? sorry, I don't know much. :D

and, I can't actually make a decision and just go with the m15x. dad saw the G1, compared it to the AW specs, and is convinced I should get it instead of the AW. lol. he's the one paying...

    thanks thanks :D

newegg is all online. And if you're dad's making his decision off specs, then he's making the wrong one (but if it's price, then that's a different issue)

ROFL reading last 3 pages, it's so funny to see people kept telling you to get RAMs from newegg but you were like "you don't understand! I want to enjoy the m15x right out of box!!!" lol lol lol

The 8800M GTS is nothing to shake a stick at, so it was a wise decision (if you weren't gonna get the m15x)

Looks like the M15X just got the base Penryn 2.1 Ghz processor. I wonder if that makes it a better value proposition now.

Not to mention, is there any sense in getting the 8800 GTX card if you don't get the higher resolution display?

I don't know if you phrased this as you wanted (worth getting an 8800 for a small screen is what you said), but yes! You can play the best games at native res with that native res being smaller, so it's easier on the card.

Actually, yes , that's what I meant. I purchased a base M15X this Monday (will arrive Friday) with the 2.1Ghz Processor and the 256MB 8600 GT card.

For current games, that would seem appropriate. For newer games, I may upgrade to a later card that AW offers.

Well, you will still miss out on games like CoD4 (most details are there but only at non-native resolutions and you don't get added benefits like 4xAA) and definitely in Crysis (medium-low will be your settings), so I mean I think the 8700 would probably have been a better choice if you were looking to play those games at higher settings (e.g. max out CoD4). If you're not that intense a gamer, though, I guess the 8600 will suffice.
