This is probably the dumbest question on the forum.
Just wondering how do i know whether i am running integrated or high performance. Everytime i click fn+f7 it tells me to restart...
Ive done it so many times confused that i have no idea what my computer is running on, how do i find out?

There are several methods for you to check that.
1st: Run -> dxdiag -> Display
2nd: BIOS. Check whether integrated or discrete graphic enable/disable.
3rd: If Hybrid SLI is on then 1 green strip near clock bar means integrated. 2 strips means discrete.
4th: Device Manager. Look for Display Adapter.
5th: Play Crysis. 5FPS means integrate. 25-40 means discrete.
6th: Switch FireFox or other apps while playing music. Audio skipping means discrete. No means integrate.
Hope that helps
UPDATE: Unplug adapter. 45' for battery to be depleted means discrete. 3h means integrate -
you mean wether your using the integrated graphics card or the PCIE ones persay?
right click on "computer" than select "manage" than "device manager"
under display adapters does it say what card(s) you ordered?
like 3870's 4850's 260 or 280gtxms 5870's etc?
if it says what 1 card you ordered or what 2 cards in sli or xfire you ordered than your using them -
problem solved
used device manager like you guys mentioned
Thank you for your help -

Theres an easier way to check download CPU HW MONITOR, put it on your desktop and whenever you want to know whats being used, just double click it and it will show you the current temp of the video card you have running.
-
Use Everest Ultimate and go to Display->GPU. Not only you will get your current GPUs and their temps but also the current clocks for each one, so you'll know for sure which one is currently working and how strong.

Does anyone pay attention to the green nvidia icon at the bottom of your task bar...if you have Nvidia cards persay...if both green arrows lit up then your descrete if only 1 then your integrated!
-
Thanks everyone I had the same problem! I never even noticed that Nvidia thing down by the clock because on Windows 7 you have to click the little up arrow to find it.

If you haven't tweaked your Windows beyond recognition the fastest way would be to right click the desktop. If you are running on the integrated card you should see the "Intel Video Accelerator" in the context menu. If you are on high performance (external) card you should see either the "NVIDIA Control Panel" or the "ATi Catalyst Control Panel".
how do i know wether i am running binary gfx or high performance?
