since the search function isnt working and i cant be bothered to go through 200 pages of threads to find it, i need to know how to upgrade the ram manually either from 2 gig or 1 gig to 4. this would save heaps of money (350 to be exact). is it safe and will it void my warranty and most importantly, how do u do it? im a bit of a laptop noob so i need some guidance.

    thanks

Pritty easy to do. Sodimm 2x2gb module kit pc2-5300 667mhz ddr2. You can pay $80 to $100 online. Easy to install. Total of 4gb.

In the USA http://frys.com/ has some good deals and I also heard http://www.tigerdirect.com/ has good prices.

I have to agree with you Mystik. Use the Search. If you talk to the Alienware Tech they will be helpful.

Ya it been happing for a bit Mystik. I have my ram for the Area 51 M17X Just waiting for the laptop. In a week or two I will have geforce go 8800 gtx

To qaz333 Ram is easy to do. I would suggest to talk to alienware when you upgrade so you dont void your warrintee. It would take me 5 Mins. in any systems. That desktop or laptops. To keep your warrintee call alienware.
