The M15X has a large panel underneath, which when removed, should allow access to the RAM modules. From there on, changing the modules should be the same as any other notebook. The module can be removed by undoing the clips on the sides. Once undone, the module will snap up, and you can then pull it out of the slot.

I cant find any pictures of the M15x base.
Can you take a picture of the base of your laptop, and post it here.
Then we can show you which panel the memory is under.
It is most likely under one of the panels.
If you know what laptop memory looks like, continue to open the panels until you find the right one with the memory under it.

i dont recommend changing the cpu. changing the cpu will void your warranty
here is the ram guide

IF your going to change the cpu. Best idea is contact Alienware tell them you want to upgrade the cpu and buy the Cpu from Alienware and send in your laptop to Alienware so they can Install it. So it will not void your Warrintee.

If you read the "Notebook Care & Maintenance Guide" (link is at the bottom of my sig, i have listed the parts and "how to's" for the m15x and the m17x, i'm sure it wil lbe there.
I'm also in agreement with the other guys, if you change your processor your waranty will be void... Might be worth a phone call to Alienware to see if they mind you upgrading. They let you change HDD & RAM so...

Looks like theres no heatsink on the CPU -
thats graphics chip if i'm not mistaken

I agree with the other posters, changing the CPU yourself will void the warranty on your system.
They do let you change the hard drives and memory though, but you need to call them first so they are aware of the change. -

As stated before it is advised to contact Alienware Support regarding upgrades to your system to avoid damage to your system and to avoid voiding your warranty.

hi !
thanks to all !
here are some pictures i found on Cowcotland website :
as i can see, it is not as easy than the picture in my original (notebook HP PAvillon DV5Z, new is there http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4486
)
Does anybondy know which kind of screw it is ?
Thanks too to Oodle-Bear for his great topic too! -
it is very easy to get to the parts. the entire bottom is covered by only 1 big play which is very convient imo. there are around 10 screws holding the plate to the case. it takes maybe 30 sec to get the plate off the m15x. the screws are pretty small.
i would say its easier than the hp since its only 1 plate to get to all the parts. -
yep. RAM's right in the middle, HDD is in the silver cage up top, and the CPU is under the bottom-left fan. piece of cake.
