    hi guys

ive read that this cpu can be overclocked to 1ghz over its standard 2.6ghz.

now am interesting in doing this but i cannot find any software so can you help on that please.

also ive read that you have to change your bios settings but i know for a fact that you cannot overclock a cpu on the alienware m7700 though the bios.

now id like to overclock my amd fx 60 in steps just to make sure i dont fry it, and also make sure that the voltage stays the same because again you cannot change the power output in the bios, so do you guys know anything to help on this ?

    thank you
    mike

    very simple.

    Use RMclock.

it will allow you to both overclock your FX-60 since it has unlocked multipliers.

and I recommend to undervolt it as well to keep it cool w/o affecting the performance at all. :)

Yeah and whatever you do, do not upgrade the BIOS to verion 1.00.10B
I know for a fact it has killed numerous boards.
    Stick with 1.00.09

I think Gophn mentioned it is only stable to like 3.2Ghz in his chassis.

    ^^ what Moo linked.

flipfire made RMclock easy to undervolt in his guide.

you should download the program under:
    - "RightMark CPU Clock Utility (RMClock)"

ok ive figured out how to overclock the cpu i think, but my cpu is normally 2.6ghz so why does it only show 1ghz ? shouldnt it be 1.3ghz ??

ive clocked my cpu to 1.6ghz per core so that should be 3.2ghz right ? but when i right click properties on my computer it only shows 2.6ghz why is that?
i have tried a restart and it still shows 2.6 even though its at 3.2.

do any of you know why this is?

p.s my 3dmark score is much higher so i know its working.

    thank you
    mike

Why are you clocking it to half of the processors speed?
If you have all of the multipliers enabled for standard operation, which are 5-13X you will see 1000MHz to 2600MHz operation speeds. You should not be seeing 1.6Ghz and assuming its 3.2GHz, it does not work that way.

Make sure you have AMD cool and quiet disabled.

    yeah seems am well confused...
and you know what am going to ask, how do i disable C&Q ? there is no option in the BIOS.

so when i manage to disabled C&Q is i should see my cpu at 2.6ghz ?

also ive got my cpu to 2.6ghz and it sometimes freezes the laptop.

ive put the voltage from 1.4 to 1.325 and its running at 2.2ghz is that dangerous ??
also my temp with the stress test is 54oC

With cool and quiet disabled, your processor will run at full speed all of the time.
I have Cool and quiet disabled.
I use CPU rightmark to change CPU frequency.
I have it set on performance on demand with all multipliers from 5x -13x selected. It throttles between 1GHz and 2.6GHz

You are going to need 1.4Volts if you are going to run stable at 2.6Ghz +

Well I dont have cool and quiet. Opteron Processors do not support cool and quiet.

I believe you can use AMD Fusion, AMD Tool, to disable cool and quiet.

Another thing you can do is never install the cpu driver from your Clevo driver disk. That installs the cool and quiet feature, which you dont want.
