I bought an m15x in the UK with the 320GB 5400rpm Smartbay HDD. I have put my iTunes music folder on the Smartbay HDD,so iTunes won't play my music unless I have the HDD slotted in. However, I have installed iTunes only on my laptop and not the Smartbay HDD. The problem is, when I plug the HDD in, open iTunes on the m15x internal hard disk and play a song, all the songs stay at 0:00 without playing. I need to close iTunes, open it again and retry playing the songs before they play. How do I solve this rather irritating issue?

It seems like a software problem rather than the m15x. It's just not recognising the the drive and auto refreshing properly.

That sounds right. Typically it will take some time before all applications recognize a smart bay HDD (or in my case, a USB hdd). perhaps wait until the smart bay HDD appears in My Computer before opening iTunes? Just a suggestion, not really sure what to do with this problem. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Evilwill32,
I use iTunes with my work laptop which is C**p (",) but, as i have 99+Gb of music alone, i use an external HDD (WD 320Gb).

If you go into the Preferences and then the Advanced tab, you can select your smart-bay or external drive, which im sure you have done. This will sork fine however, If you use iTunes and do not have your external or smart-bay drive ready to be used (displayed in My Computer ad a drive) BEFORE running iTunes, when you add music or try and play something from your library, iTunes will use it's default settings... My Documents/My Music/Itunes/Itunes Music...

My advice is make sure windows know's it can use the drive where your music is stored, before you try and use it (",)
