    illuminated keyboard 56 days??!

    Hi does anyone know why in the AW UK site, the illuminated keyboard has an estimated delay of 56 days?? (For the M17) is that a mistake????

    theory:

    many peeps ordered laptops without the illumination previously...feeling outdone by thier neighbor who got the illuminated keyboard, they promptly ordered one to "keep up with the Jones's" as it were....(they also saw how kewl it was too)

    Ironically, I suspect the non-illuminated keyboard is actually the same, just missing the connection to power the lights - I have the non-illuminated one and was disappointed to see that it's the same keyboard, i.e. translucent markings for backlighting that, without the backlight, make the keyboard very hard to see in dim light. I can't see why it would take 56 days, if they genuinely are effectively the same keyboard - which I'm pretty sure they are!

    Can we connect the non-illuminated by ourself to save some money?
    Or solder some LED under the keyboard?

    I know I am cheap.

    If someone with an illuminated keyboard can take some detailed photos of the connections to their keyboard, we can compare with our non-illuminated keyboards and maybe find out? It would be great if it's just a matter of connecting a wire and/or setting a jumper.

    not to burst your bubble, but i would doubt it would be that easy. if it were, i think the word would have gotten out (on this forum for sure) by now and no one would order the illuminated if all it would take was to plug in a connection.

    They probably just don't include the LEDs. If you could get your hands on a set of those bad boys you might be in business.

    you guys are really penny pinchers arn't you? like no offence but penny pinching isn't a great way to live life. There is nothing wrong with saving money but..... there is aalso going to far

    Not really. I ordered the non-illuminated keyboard because I didn't need an illuminated one. As I said earlier, I didn't realise that the non-illuminated keyboard would be so hard to see.
