    is clearview the name for GLOSSY screen?

    I ask this cuz the new 17x says it has the 1920x1200(or whatever the resolution was) in clearview. But the 15x doesn't. I want a glossy screen if I order mine. But I hate to order the 15x now if the clearview will make its way to the 15x model.

    Yes clearview means a glossy screen. If the M17x says clearview, it is going to have a glossy screen vs. the m15x which does not say clearview. It was this way with the M5550 and the M9700 laptops. The M5550 was clearview for 1280x800 and matte for 1920x1200. The M9700 was clearview for both.

    m15x with 1440x900 screen is described as "clearview" and it is glossy
    m15x with 1920x1200 is not described that way and is matte

    Cripes. So you think, they won't release the 15x 1920x1200 in clearview at all? I mean, I know you don't work for them, but from what you saw in the past, they just might not bring it out then?

    It's hard to say of course, but I don't think there's any motivation/incentive on AW's part to bring it out after having not done so from the start. Getting a clearview 1920x1200 seems to be far down the priority list, from my perspective.

    edit: that said, I have heard of some third party process that allows you to change a matte screen to glossy, or vice-versa.

    im glad that AW made a the 1920x1200 screen glossy, cuz now we can get the superior resoultion with more vibrant colors cuz of the glossy. perfect

    faizan. I agree. Most people getting the high resolution screen would be doing that for the blu-ray. Not to mention, my Asus has the glossy 1680x1050 on it's 15in so I'm used to it.
