im doing a little report on bitlocker encryption which uses TPM(Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2)) so i was wondering if the M17x(new one) has a TPM in built?
im running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and when i try to access the tpm it says no compatible tpm detected and that i should check if i have one and it is turned on in the bios. is there no tpm built in the system or is there a driver i need to install? what should i enable in the bios?
couldnt find much info on the web so i thought id ask here.
i found out that the old m17x has a tpm so im wondering why the new M17x doesnt have one

The older system probably had it because of the built in biometrics. I know my Thinkpad has it also. The M17x does not. If the M17x had it you would see it in device manager under "security devices".

Remember your old XPS M1730 ruby? It had it (credit card size slot on the left of the chassis). As Mandrake mentioned, not this one.

oh crap then i shoulda held on to it till my assignment was over so i could try it out

Actually, my bad Ruby. I was thinking it was the 1730, its actually the M1710 which had the Smart Card slot.

Anyway - so OT so it doesn't really matter.
is there a Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) on M17x?
