Hi all. Some may remember me as the individual who had the fubar system way back in March. Well Alienware finally sent me back my system a couple weeks ago, and i've been thrilled with it! Everything has been fixed ... even the quicktouch volume controls i'm happy with! All except for one thing ... the damn keyboard! Sometimes it doesn't register keys (multiple fast ones as previously noted by some users) and sometimes it works great! However, whenever a usb keyboard is plugged in, it's absolutely fine.... it seems to be just a problem with the built in keyboard! You know, the one we paid an extra 50$ to have light up?

Is there a fix to this? I'm going to ask alienware to send me a new one because i've tried both reinstalling vista/formatting the disk to reinstalling the keyboard and checking the ribbons. Has anybody fixed this successfully? I did a search and havn't seen any success stories, just complaints ... this is kind of a shame! I'm a quick typist and this is really annoying when i'm trying to type up large documents or reproduce soft copies of hardcopy notes... and pretty much anything else you would do on a computer because one of the base input interfaces is unresponsive!

That's great news Carnyl! Glad they fixed your lappy save the keyboard of course.

Yea, ask AW to send you a replacement keyboard and swap and it out to see if it solves the problem.

I do have some issues with this too, but honestly I think it was just a matter of breaking in the keyboard. At the start I would have problems all the time, but now I'll only get a fault once every 300 words maybe.

But if a replacement keyboard fixes the problem, then that would still be a good idea. I think though that over time, if you wanted to wait, the issue will slowly go away.

I've found the same behaviour as Callidor - uninstalling the touchpad driver makes the keyboard respond a whole lot better, although (of course) you lose the customization of the touchpad. No idea why, though....

My laptop is currently at the Alienware repaire depot for exactly this problem. We will see if it comes back working.
