last question regarding AW shipping

it will be less than 30 hrs before I leave Philippines... which means bye bye internet connection until at least May. so before I leave the forum, I'd like to ask a couple of people regarding their AW delivery.

I might place an order by May 1. AW has an estimated ship date of around two weeks. but from what I've read here, it takes more than two weeks (crystak had his AW delivered after more than a month! what the?!).

and I had a chat with a rep at the AW site. he said he can't give any assurance of the two-week delivery. he just said that they will do their best to ship the unit as soon as possible. lol




I'd only have more than four weeks but less than five. leaving US and not having my AW shipped would be a nightmare.

I would order ASAP -- many m15x orders have been taking a month to a month and a half

 

i would phone in to order and go through verifying the credit card with your bank and alienware. i went from stage 1-4 in less than 24 hours (which is verifying the payment) etc..

mine was made and delivered in 10 days, 11 including shipping.

I'm having all the basic parts (base config) + light-up keyboard. do you think it will ship faster?

 

probably, since most people are going for top spec. with this model.
IMHO getting a base model of m15x is not a wise move.

I'll be use the lappy to watch videos... decided to play on desktop with dual 8800GT hopefully.


so I'm hoping the base m15x will ship faster. alienware.de ships their units faster... less than two weeks. LoL

 

I don't think so ... I ordered on alienware.de and I'm in Phase 4 since 4/4 .. so more than 2 weeks now! EST is 27th of april but the CS says "they can't tell me when things will be in stock before I'm not over the EST" stupid guys ...
how ever ... alienware.de is just a german translation of the alienware.co.uk site ... all the european alienwares are produced in Ireland!

not. if you order now, it's gonna take just about 4 weeks (screen backorder).

 

I'm still in Philippines... heading to US tomorrow (it's 11:27pm here). once I get there, I'll just rest for a day or two, then order the m15x (probably by April 25). then I'll go home here in Philippines on June 4. that'll be approxiamtely 6 weeks, and that's the only time I can give the shipping.

 

Pay very close attention to the poster and where they are from when judging ship dates. I noticed a lot of folks are in the UK and other places. Here in the US the Inventory issues seem to have been solved in the short term possibly based on what you ordered. I placed my order on the 10th and it left AW on the 17th. It seems the only delay was in phase 6 for me which was exactly the time that the X32 bios came out. I'm assuming the extra time in phase 6 was due to them installing and throughly testing the new bios. Also something else to consider is where in the US you will be. shipping will take longer. Im in cali and they ship out of Miami, FL. My shipping is taking as long as the build and test. I didnt get to them in time to update to second day shipping. I would say if you order as soon as you get to the US you will be fine. good luck.

remember to call up the credit card company so they will allow such a large purchase to go through.

 

HB... I'm jealous. have lots of fam and friends in that area. Yeah what the other guy said. Make sure your shipping address is on file with your credit card company. my mom bought mine for me as a wedding/going back to school gift. when we originally ordered i had her ship it to my work address here in the bay area. but, they ended up having to ship to her billing address over in the central valley (about 1hr 30min away). so I'm taking friday off to go sit around her house and wait for it. also i would do it on the phone. my mom was able to sit on the phone with them and work out the issues there on the spot instead of waiting to find out theres and issue from an email. Definitely go for the 2nd day shipping if youre in cali. its $45 more. But mine would have been here today if i had used 2nd day.

 

so should I use PayPal? what if I don't like to use it?

there are only two choices in the AW site: check out with PayPal or just checkout so which would I choose.

Seriously just call them. use your credit card and make sure the address in HB is on file with the Credit Card Company first.

lol... so the billing address must be the same with the shipping address?

the only thing I bought in the internet was a 12-year Norton subscription, I bought it twice, and the bank called us up to confirm if we did purchase the subscription, and dad said we did. so it went fine.

now I'd be buying something tangible, and not just some subscription thingy... lol. if the billing address is in the Philippines, and the shipping will be at CA, USA, will there be a big problem?

You should place your order over the phone so an Alienware rep makes sure it doesn't get screwed up.

 

Yes there will be a problem. call your credit card company and authorize the address in HB. then you can use the HB address to ship to.

They will not ship to any address that is not on file with your credit card company. I dont know how it works if you use paypal. I assume it works the same way. Has to ship to a confirmed paypal address.

 

what if the bank says that AW can ship to CA, even if it's not in the billing address? can they do that?


maybe the bank will give us a call when the order is placed, then we can confirm that the shipping address is at CA. maybe AW knows the card is from the Philippines, and might consider to ship it even if it's not in the billing address.

 

yes the bank can say that AW can ship to CA. thats why you need to call them and tell them to authorize the CA address. Just save yourself the trouble and call the bank first. you will have to do it anyways.

 

paypal asks for two billing addresses... would that work?

 

with paypal you will have to through the process of confirming the shipping address which will require you to do the same thing! call your bank and authorize the address. I'm going now... not going to tell you again... CALL YOUR BANK AND AUTHORIZE THE CA ADDRESS.

are you using international credit card? it only takes you 5 mins to add a alternate shipping address into your account, why make it so complicated?
