My m11x arrived this afternoon. All great until I switched it on and the front right light won't work. (the one behind the grill at the front of the keyboard). I've been searching for any possible fix or other people with this issue. Anyone else having this problem and does anyone know a solution?

    Many thanks

yeah, my right grill (front) light is very very dim. It is so dim, it might be actually broken and the dim light i see could be just a small fraction of light from the keyboard. Computer works great otherwise, except it didnt come with bluetooth even tho the sales rep assuired me it would have bluetooth.

Any suggestions for fixing the light. I dont see it in software, maybe need a call to dell for repair since i got complete care, while they are at it, better install the bluetooth I was promised.

It's time to poke out the left one and be done with it ;)

Have you tried reinstalling the Command Centre and changing the lights theme? Maybe it's a software issue.

    try a cold boot,
    power down
    unplug
    take out battery
press power button for 20 sec
put back and power up to see if it did anything.

    This might help as well.
    Good suggestion, InappropriateName3!
You can also re-flash the BIOS.
    I doubt it's a hardware failure.

My original r2 had some of the touch pad led's burned out. I called dell and they said they would send a tech out to fix it. I decided to send it back and get a replacement because I didn't want my new lappy to be taken apart for something that should have worked out of box.

If the led is burned out you might as well call dell for a replacement and use the current one until it arrives.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since I have the 1 year complete care, I thought maybe i should call them before opening up the pc. Not that I havnt built a few desktops or torn apart laptops, but hey, the complete care is there, may as well use it and not risk any voided warranty clauses if dell has such a thing.

I called the tech, he preformed with my assistance exactly what you guys suggested. Remove battery, power button 20 sec, cold boot, uninstall Alien FX, deleted themes, flash, reinstall. Also had me take a photo and place it on my desktop so his supervisor could see. He did everything, except clear the registry strings for Alien FC or controll centre.

Nothing worked, and the photo game him all he needed, Tech coming mon or tuesday. I was told They will be replacing the speakers? Probably attached to the grill lights.

Now if i could only get the to put in the $20 bluetooth chip they promised was included, but didnt. (everyone knows the CDN orders had no opton to add bluetooth as an addon, was advertised w/ bt, but none actually arrived with BT.)

Still I love the m11x , my 3rd Alienware product in 4 months. Got a couple M15x's for the wife and myself.

I'd love to get some pictures of this problem (off and dim) if anyone has them, especially if anyone has opened up their system to see what is going on.
