For those who wish to disable/enable the Synaptics touchpad on the m15x (and possibly the m17x) in Linux, try the following. You can run this as yourself, not root.

To disable, type in the following and press enter: synclient touchpadoff=1
This will instantly disable that pesky touchpad.

To enable, type in the following and press enter: synclient touchpadoff=0
    Voila, on again.

SuSE? I'm currently on Ubuntu Studio 7.10... Been running it for some 6 months now... still have an XP x64 partition on this machine, but I rarely use it.

I'm planning on tri-booting in september. between XP (32bit for the AlienFX and features), Vista 64, and Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit...

At that time I'll be entering school for Network Technology, seems to me that Linux is the right option for that course. :)

Technically it's called OpenSusE 10.3-x86_64. It's great. It sees all 4GB of RAM and uses it. I have tried Ubuntu and Kubuntu and, quite frankly, wasn't impressed. To each their own.

I'm also booting XP and Vista. None of them are virtual. They're the real deal.

NICE... I was thinking about giving Xen Server a quick go, to see if I can dynamically switch between Vista and Linux, but I think I'll hit the same brick wall I always do...

I tend to keep vista around primarily for games, and I think using the Xen Hypervisor will 'disconnect' (so to speak) the 8700M GT's power from Vista...

I'll give it a QUICK go, and find out.
