I was trying to update my Bluetooth Driver of the m15x with the latest version from MyHive.
Now unfortunately this Downloaded Driver is older than the version installed on my m15x (I noticed too late)
It started the installation procedure though and asked me to reboot to finalize the installation (which I did).
Now whenever I restart the system I get an annoying PopUp that says the Bluetooth Driver Installation cannot be finalized because the is a newer version already installed.
So I tried to re-install the latest version from Broadcom. However this does not install either as it detects that my drivers are up-to-date.
HELP:
How do I get rid of this annoying popup?
If I have to uninstall and re-install the whole Bluetooth Device first, which entry in the device manager should I delete?
Sorry, but I am confused.

Is there a way, that the m15x switches automatically from High Performance - NonStealth to PowerSaver/Stealth whenever I unplug my charger cable?
I am travelling quite a bit, so tend to switch both ways quite of, but manually.

Alright, I have successfully upgrade my BIOS to v32RC1.
My system is equiped with the GTX8800.
I still use the original nVidia Drivers (i.e. v167.55).
Is it save to move to the v175.63 or should I skip it?

How can I judge that the m15x is indeed using the N-mode of my WLAN?
Is there a tool around that can help me to measure my data throughput?

First remove the old driver and then re-install the one that works.
-
Check your power settings under Control Panel.
-
But how to remove the old Driver?
In my List of the Device Manager I find the following entries:
1) Bluetooth Radios:
Broadcom 2045 Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR USB DeviceMicrosoft Bluetooteh Enumerator
2) Human Interface Devices
Bluetooth Remote Control
3) Modems
Standard Modem over Bluetooth LinkStandard Modem over Bluetooth Link #2
4) Network adapters
Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI
5) Sound, video and game controllers
Bluetooth Hands-Free AudioBluetooth Stereo Audio
Which one is the right one to remove?
Sorry, but I am a real dummy in this.

I have done that, however is there a way to automize the Stealth mode as well?
Rambler -
Well I don't think there is a program in the M15x which can automatically change the power plan. However you can use a program called vista battery saver which will change the powerplan automatically when plugging in/out the power adapter..Here's the link- http://www.codeplex.com/vistabattery

Remove these two:
1) Bluetooth Radios:
Broadcom 2045 Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR USB Device
Microsoft Bluetooteh Enumerator
Then restart and install the new drivers. -
Taskbar > Wireless Network Connection [hover your mouse on it]
See what I encircled?
If the Speed: says:
11 Mbps - 802.11b
54 Mbps - 802.11g
> 54 Mbps - 802.11n
I think N-wireless is supposed to go up to 300 Mbps? So yeah.
As you can see, I'm only using wireless B. -
Done that. However as soon as I reboot, Windows automatically installs the same driver.
Once it is finished, I still get the message that the older version cannot be installed.
I guess there is somewhere in the registry a scheduled task, that keeps the old driver trying to install itself.
How can I stop him from doing this?
Rambler -
Thanks for the Link.
However that software still does not switch the m15x to the Stealth-Mode.
Any ideas how to handle that?
Rambler -
Download CCleaner.Try uninstalling using that. Also try locating the bluetooth driver and deleting that after uninstalling. That way windows will not be able to locate the driver and install automaticallly.
-
Yup, works in XP, but does not in Vista.
Some more ideas?

Right click on the network icon in the tasbar.Select 'Network and Sharing Center' from there. You should now see a an option saying 'View status'.Click on that and you will find out the connection speed.
-
See attachement. Looks like I am connected in 54Mbps is probably the g-Standard.
However my WLAN is broadcasting in b-g-n-Mode.
Is there a way, I can force the m15x to use N-Mode?

yes it is safe to use the new drivers. no one has reported any problems with it. also you should really put all your problems into 1 thread instead of a new thread for each problem.

rambler38762, do not start four threads on stuff you have questions about. I merged them all into one.
-
i think it automatically uses the fastest connection possible, so you'd need an N-capable router as well... oh and may i infer from the name "gullyDeckel" that you're german?
-
now im supposed to be on up to 8mb download speed but due to the exchange im only on 4-5mb
what is the best way to work out the above mbps to clarify what actual speed im getting. -
Sorry for the confusion.
Maybe I am too German, but I like an "ordentlich" structure.
That's why I posted several messages to different topics.
Will change that in the future.
Anyway, thanks for all your support so far.
I solved the N-Mode problem. I installed a repeater to my Fritz!Box 7270. Now I receive up to 130 Mbps on my WLAN.
Still fighting with my Bluetooth adapter though...
