Ok, I received my new m15x with 4GB RAM plus the Intel Turbo Cache.

Now how do I set the turbo cache up that I know it is running properly?

    I am using Vista.

You can check if it running properly in device manager. If it is shown installed properly then there will not be an exclamation mark next to it.

Right Click "My Computer" > "Properties" > "Device Manager"

Allright, I found it under Storage Controllers.

No Exclamation mark, so I guess it is working.

Is there any way to judge the performance?

No. With 4 GB of RAM, there won't be the slightest difference.

The Turbo Memory from what I've heard doesn't do a thing for your performance.

yes, some tests show improvements of 5-10% in batt life.

Many people claim that it slows things down but I think that most of those people have never used a laptop with TM. I don't notice the slowdowns that others claim TM causes.

It should help your boot times, because Turbo Memory learns over time what your Vista loads at each startup and caches it for future startups, but that's about it.

It does decrease your boot time. Cuts it almost in half, but as far as I've heard it does very little for actual performance once windows actually boots.

yeah, pretty well does nothing after booting (I don't get super-fast BF2 loads or anything like that)

I agree, i have been reading about it. It seems to act like a pre-fetch, pre-fetch..... sort of. It allow Vista to "learn" oer time, your habbits and loads the programs/files/actions that you perform each time you load Vista.

It puts the processes you need to load Vista in it's memory instead of using the HDD which reduces the loading lag from spin-up etc.

Apparently it can also act as a pre-loading feature for Windows, if you use the same programs each time you load, it can learn and put these as a priorty so that they load faster. I'm guessing that this learning process takes time though, so i'd not expect an instant boost...

I'm all for speeding up booting and will be haveing it in my M17X, whenever they release it.

its 40 bucks... so besides helping with boot times its useless? wat about if a newer turbo cache comes out with like more memory boost?
