So me and 2-3 of my friends are all ordering laptops to start gaming together again since we all got grad money recently. What i need to know is whether or not ALL problems are fixed with the m15x's that are being shipped out right now. Because im the only semi-computer guru and i don't feel like ordering them both faulty laptops.

If not what others can you suggest? i was thinking m860tu but we don't want to wait that long, then the 570tu but its a 17" and we need mobility so the m15x would be nice otherwise it might be a a mac =0

Mac= no gaming unless dualbooting, cost more than 8800 Alienware, if you were getting a 8600, you might as well go for the M1530.
M15x= some problems still remain, but it's not THAT bad.

Honestly, the M15x is still having problems, and many users are still complaining about them. If I were you, I would wait for the m860tu even though you don't want to. You can order the m860tu from xoticpc.com who has a very good reputation on the forums here so you shouldn't have to worry about receiving a defective PC.

If you do not go with the M15x but still want to game, you can always look at the M1530 with the 8600M GT graphics card. If you snag a deal on dell you can pay around $1200 for a laptop with a 2.4 / 3GB / 160GB / 8600M / 3 year warranty.

no the m15x problems have not been all fixed. but thier still great. look at your other choices.

m17x - the same "problems" as m15x most likely. not to metion its ugly and more expensive, and huge.

    m1730- pretty good alternative.

sager- not really stylish but thier pretty reliable.

mac???- go for it. but dont expect serious gaming. i had issues running doom 3 on low setting on the macbook pro.

lol lethal lottery you must be horible at setting up duelbooting on a mac..

    i play crysis on high/medium on a Mackbookpro with a 8600 and 256mb vram and a 2.2 core2duo (the cheapest 15inch macbookpro) ...

Playing games on OSX is stupid.. but u can now install Vista or XP on a Macbookpro it it will perform just like any other 8600m GT and core2 gaming laptop..

not to mention its build quality is second to nun... and that alienware is atempting to mimic its design in cheap plastics in the m15x..

if mac had a 8800m GTX in a macbookpro i would order a second one (my brothers is the above laptop) with no questions asked the quality of the mac laptops and there attention to detail is amazing...
i really hope mac does some thing with the 9800m GTX in the macbook pro... due to it being cooler..

alienware has really stuffed up the mXXx line of notebooks just watch any of there video casts.. they are basicaly begging people to order/be content with them

    crysis on a macbookpro
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dcXCdrnbbI

honestly that video outperforms many m15x users who where downclocking.

yes, m15x has some problems remaining, but I think it's a lotery now. I bought one and no problems so far, but I've seen some people who got theirs at almost the same time as me and returned due to problems.

the only problem i see with the m15x for now is that some cpus might downclock if you stress it hard enough. everything else seems to be working fine. i do wish the m15x was built using metal instead of plastic though. that would make the durability go way up.

if you cant wait for the clevo and you dont want an 8800 in a 17 in notebook the m15x is currently the only choice out there.

I suggest you wait the m860TU but if THIS IS THE TIME you really wanted then go ahead with the m15X. It still is the coolest notebook ever :D

I think there are several heating issues that haven't beeb resolved...
With new X32 Bios, CPU goes to much higher temps (when properly stressed with Orthos), around 92C.
When you leave computer in stealth mode, you can have your GPU going over 100C.

So I would say that the overheating is not a thing of the past and is, at present, a very real and serious problem.

I agree, CPU downclocking is the only major, systematic issue which still exists. All other faults at this point are random and cannot be guaranteed from one system to the next.

The Clevo m860tu should end up being a reliable machine. The price difference between it and the AW shouldn't be as big as the price savings Clevo obtains with 17" models, but I would be surprised if they mess up its quality control.

im pretty sure the new clevo will be reliable. i dont think clevo can afford having mistakes on the m860tu. if they did think about the amount of laptops they have to fix since they ship to so many manufactuerers. they would lose a lot of money. i think they will have the laptop tested well.

For the people who want the newest Greatest things out there go ahead. We will let you deal with the problem. For the smart people who wait a few Months or later and have Most of the problems fix.

1 to 7 Months deal with the problems 8 to 12 months hope the issues are fix. Afterwords if the system not fix complain.

Never Never rush into a new item. That is what I learn from Alienware.

My Facts I rush into a new product and was hit hard. And I am Still dealing with it.

Wiser words have never been spoken. So pay attention.

If anything the M15x backs this up 100 times over.
