    m15x Alien FX big problem

    Hi all, I have a problem with my AlienFX because it's not working anymore, I explain:

    I have downloaded the AlienFX software from the alienware support and it downgrade my firmware of the alienFX....So now AlienFX didn't want to work....

    So I need to find a flash software for upgrade my AlienFX Firmware to the beginning.

    (Sorry for my english)

    I have call them but the french support is close at this time I'll try Monday.

    Ok I have see the version of the firmware I need is 1.00.22.

    I need too the software for flash my firmware. Because AlienFXTester doesn't want to flash...It always skipp the upgrade firmware..

    Yes i have already test this option....But this is this version on their website who has downgrade my firmware....they're not up to date... Thanks anyway ;)

    the package that is on their website is the most current I think it just upgraded your firmware. You may have to wait and call them.

    is the OSD package properly installed?

    I have done exactly the same thing and lost my alienfx lighting, but I managed to fix it. If you want to know and you are very computer literate I will post the walkthrough, but be warned its a very convoluted solution.

    I have exactly the same issue. I spent 1.5 hour on the phone with a support guy, but couldn`t help.

    He`s gonna pass the issue to the AlienFX department.

    If I figure out a sollution, i`m gonna post here.

    I have contact Alienware-Steve for this problem and a agent contact me, they are working with Alienware EU for fix that.

    Only european user actually can't access at the solution....I ry they're going fastly for release in our MyHive.

    I reinstalled my system, and during the Alien Command Center setup the program stopped responding when the firmware was updated.

    Since then all my lights off, not just the keyboard. When I try to run the AlienFXTester, the firmware version field is empty.

    When I try to enable the AlienFXController, I get an error message, that there is a hardware or software issue and contact support...

    I found the firmware .ROM file in the Command Center folder, but there is no software to flash it. If I start the Command Center setup again, the firmware upgrade part is skipped atm.

    well the only way I know how to do it is uninstall the command center and then install it again if you have already done that then you'll have to see if they can do it for u.

    I have not do that already because the command center is not available yet for the european customers in MyHive. I have contact alienware EU and they have say to me they are working with alienware US for make available the command center to us...

    I have the same problem and reinstal the command center doesn't work (i have took a link from here to the us command center and replace the us by fr, and it works :D) but when i reinstal the command center there is no firmware update...
    That sucks, cause if you have a problem you know that you can't hope to be help by the european tech support or you have to send back your laptop (for something like 1 month i guess...)

    yes, i got the link to the command center from the US support, but it doesn`t work.

    The installer just skipping the firmware upgrade part.

    If it skips the firmware update that means you have the most update firmware. What version does it tell you u are using when you run the tester?

    no version number, the field is blank, and the upgrade is skipped even if I reset the tester.

    that`s why I think it`s a firmware issue.

    Ok i have desinstall commandcenter and reinstall the new one from european MyHive and it skipp the processus flash.... :/ I'm contacting alienware now.

    Edit : Right now just FluffyRug has found how to flash the firmware with the 1.00.22 rom but he doesn't come back on this forum :/

    Same here :). I reinstalled the command center, but it did not solved the issue. I contacted Alienware again as well, hopefully we can get a sollution faster if we attack from more direction :)

    Well, I solved it somehow...

    I reinstalled my system completly from scratch.

    Installed the chipset drivers and the OSD Utility.

    Ran the AlienFX 1.5 software setup (that`s the old one we could download from the support site)

    It was the same, no firmware update.

    After this I rebotted the system and installed the Alienware Command Center. When the warning message about the firmware at the end of the installation popped up, I did not clicked "OK" immediately, and after a few seconds I got a Vista message that it wants to install a driver with no microsoft approval. I accepted it, then "OK" and the firmware upgrade started...

    I tried to remove/install the command center several times before, but never worked. I`m not sure if the clean install helped, or the waiting after the pop up message.

    For your clean reinstall do you have use the Recovery CD Vista prenium or alienrespawn ?

    It`s working fine now, I have all lights.

    I used the recovery CD to reinstall.

    I don`t know if it`s important or not, but I did not let Vista to download any updates and I installed the drivers only for the Intel Chipset and the OSD utility software before I ran the AlienFX setup.

    I've got a similar problem. The keyboard doesnt appear in the AlienFX available zones.
    It seems the firmware is the 1.00.07 and he refuses to upgrade in 1.00.22
    I've tried a lot of things and nothing works. Now i lost the OSD too and the AlienFx doesnt work neither (no light).
    (PS: i have tried the EU command center update: CommandCenterBundleSetup-Mobile-1018 ).
    I'm stuck like you guys :(

    if you have your drivers dvd try installing OSD. If that doesn't work uninstall command center then try installing OSD and then the command center.

    I've uninstall the command center and the OSD.
    I've reinstalled the OSD and the command center : not working.
    2)
    Desintalling everything
    install of OSD and AlienFX1.5 from the support link
    Not working and i have an Area 51 in alien Fx Themes .....
    3)
    Desinstalling everything, then installing OSD and command center:
    no more lights and in the device control the TUSB3410 bootdevice is without driver (question mark) and i cant find a way to install it :(
    4) i did the Alienware Respaw to get back to the factory configuration .... and the same problem remains, no lights and no driver for TUSB3410

    i'm really stuck

    I wish they could provide a flashing process that works to update the firmware in 1.00.22 and be recognise again by windows....
