Guys,
My current antivirus subscription will be expiring in a few days and I'm trying to decide if I should stay with ESET or start looking elsewhere.
Right now I'm using NOD32 v3 and have been fairly happy with it. After looking at their forums over at Wilder's Security it appears that v4 has some serious compatibility issues - even with Vista SP2.
I've also read that Norton Antivirus 2009 is getting fantastic reviews. Apparently it's no longer the sloth that it used to be.
After going back-and-forth I'm torn as to which is actually a better choice...
For use on a gaming notebook, which antivirus would YOU choose? (Strictly for support reasons I want to stay with a commercial security vendor.)
Any guidance is appreciated...

Norton internet security 2009 Gaming Editon. I think.
I am using Norton internet security 2009. it is good. i could say. -
Norton 2008 is god awful, but perhaps 2009 is better.

I never use the "paid for" antivirus software.
Also, you might want to ask this question in the Windows OS and software forum. This really isn't an Alienware specific question. -
I'm using avast and it works very well
free of course -
AVG Personal is free and it is quite capable.

Does anyone know of any issues between the latest incarnation of Norton and the Alienware proprietary stuff (ie. Command Center, OSD, etc.)?
I'm trying to avoid issues if at all possible.

Been using all sorts from Norton, Panda, AVG... but Avast is my favourite.. either free home or professional. Simple, effective and when set right, barely noticable that its running. No conflicts with any software on my m17.

I hear norton is really good this year actually one of the best. I used to pay but no longer do AVG ranks very highly paid or free so I use the free version

Avira for me.

Norton is Good. i have been used Norton antivirus software since i got my first Notebook pc.
I never have any virus problem with my computer.
IF you dont care about paying £40or ??doller(have not check it ) to get the Norton AntiVirus Gaming Edition. it is enough for alland you will not wrong about the virus i think.

If you are going for the paid type, get Norton Internet Security 2009. They have really sorted this program out. It's extremely light on resources, YES you heard correctly and it runs quietly in the background = "Non Intrusive" unlike a lot of other Security suites.
Out of the free types I like Avira Anti Vir, Avast, AVG and I also tried out PC Tools AV and FW which I quite liked because it's "Non-Intrusive" and light. Comodo Internet Security is a complete security suite which is free, however it requires quite a bit of interaction to get it going but it's getting great reviews.
McAfee is offering a Free Beta Test of their new Internet Security Suite at the moment which runs until the end of the year. I'm using this on my "Primary PC" and it's running very well.
Microsoft offers a Trial Version of the One Care Internet Security Suite which lasts for 3 months. I have this running on my Net Book and it also works very well. I believe that Microsoft will be releasing this Security Suite for Free in the next few months codenamed "Morro".
Your Best bet is to google a few of these and see which suites your needs the best....Good Luck!
