Ok.. I installed the registry fix from Alienwares site, directly following the instructions:

I've tried it twice. Uninstalled Command Center.. installed the registry fix.. reinstalled Command Center.. and the keyboard still won't light up..

Any suggestions? Anybody know what registry keys are actually added and I can manually check them/ad them if needed?

    Thanks for the help !

yeah I have been in this situation before. What I have to say your not going to like! First your going to need to reformat again. But first go to alieanware support area and search for the correct order to install drivers after hdd format. There is a certin order you have to install drivers other wise the keyboard does not light up! It sucks I know but your going to have to do one more clean install than make sure you install the drivers in the correct sequence. Alien support page will have the order list just do a simple search, I would do it for you but i am hitting up club "bed" : )

It worked! I reformatted, everything went smoothly... Followed the driver order and magically it worked.

haha thats how i felt...I went from not liking aw to magiclly likeing them again when the order list fixed everything. Its weird how this works but I am sure it has alot to do with the way aw designed the software which kinda sucks in my opinion. But I am glad to hear it works now. "let there be light!"

Yea.. it is a little weird..

I wish Alienware had done a couple things with Alien FX:

    1) Made the program lighter. It takes too long to load, it takes up the entire screen, and its slow..

    2) Made the Alien FX board quicker.. so you could have faster color changes and faster board reboots.

    3) More colors would have been nice but not a big one to me..

    4) Even coloration! It completely kills the coolness of the Alien FX system by the fact that some areas are really bright and others are very dim... come on!

Well, although there have been some attempts at making it a tad lighter with Command Center SP1, findvikas has made a very light version of the program with more colors to choose from, which you can find here:
