I know there are problems already being discussed about this problem, but this seems to be different. I have restored my m15x to factory defaults 3 times to see if that's what it is, and it's not.

So, I can hold down the key for about 1-2 seconds and I get a letter. If I press normally, nothing happens. If I press really hard, I get a letter. Also, my external mouse and keyboard work very smooth. When I unplug the mouse, I get lag.

    Anyone have any ideas?

No go. One thing I did notice though. When Vista first loads, the touchpad is fine, but after a few seconds, it's laggy again. Keyboard still doesn't work.

No, it does it as soon as I get into Vista and everything loads up. It does it from the first time I boot into Vista after the respawn.

Are the keyboard and touchpad problems present outside of Vista?

Have you observed them during the recovery process or if you boot from a Disc?

Something tells me it's nothing of the above. You aren't by any chance using an external monitor as well, are you?

Half joking, I'm going with cosmic rays. Although I'm curious to know why an external monitor would affect these devices. Would someone care to elaborate?

Perhaps you could try flashing the X36 BIOS again.

It's just a hunch. I looked into an issue similar to this one awhile back and apparently, the keyboard could lag pretty bad when it's connected to an external monitor. If the OP has his m15x connected to an external monitor, this could be a reason why his keyboard/touchpad is lagging.

I won't go too deep into explaining why but if you're interested, click on this link.

I figured it out. For some reason the motherboard connector was slightly out. That is the second connector that has came loose slightly. I am very displeased thus far. What should I do? Should I send it back and get it repaired by them?

Perhaps I should have asked if you re-seated the connections beneath the keyboard initially, but I'm happy to hear you solved it on your own. It's always more satisfying that way.

If the connection doesn't come loose again any time soon, I wouldn't bother sending it in. Also, make sure you're flipping the little cable releases upwards, and not popping/sliding them out all together. This happened to me 4-5 years ago on an old inspiron 2650 I replaced the mainboard in. Very difficult for my big hands to get that little plastic piece back in there.

@ Oceanus: Thanks for the info, I'll try my Vista 64 some time soon, and report my results on the other thread.

TwoBall, thanks for the reply. Although I bought another panel for mine, it was cracked upon opening. The right hinge was apart from the panel. I have emailed them asking if they can send another one out today, but I have gotten no response as of yet. This skull cap design is amazing looking though. Much better than the Ripley design IMHO.

I do make sure to release the tab before pulling it out. The ribbon on the keyboard for the AlienFX lighting is actually broke at the end.

Anyways, I guess I will wait and see before I send it in.

I'm assuming this means you have both a Skull and a Ripley lid, and your new Skull was shipped damaged from AW. I did not realize AW allowed this "repair" to be done by the end-user.

Regardless, I would call the Roswell Group if you haven't already. Regular tech support is for non-NBR members and the rest of the suckers out there. :D

If you're calm and polite, or perhaps just claim AW as your personal lord and savior, I would bet AW would upgrade the shipping to 2-day or overnight for free.

Also, explain the difficulty you've had with the keyboard, and they'll likely throw in a new keyboard as well.

AW will temporarily bill you for all of these items until they receive the defective items they replace.

I didn't get it from AW. I bought it from CyberInfinity on eBay. I am just frustrated that I spend 3300 on this and it's falling apart. I wil cal the Roswel Group.
