So I reformatted my hard drive with the disk that alienware provided. Its windows vista home premium 32bit. Everything with the new drivers work perfect except when I install the new 8800gtx nvidea drivers, when I reset the computer it gives me a black screen right before it logs into windows and just sits their. I can go into safe mode and change the drivers back to the Standerd VGA graphics and resart back in normal mode. Any ideas how I get the nvidea drivers to boot my computer in normal mode? Please help been working on this for hours!

You should install the stock drivers from Alienware not the latest drivers. Try that. Welcome to NBR :)

    Welcome to the forum :)
Try downloading the drivers for the GPU from the AW My Hive section..
And not being able to find the graphics card could mean you're in BinaryGFX.. I think it's Fn+F7 to get back to the GPU (external VGA) - requires reboot
    Hope this helps..

Have u try recovery CD. It will restore everything to factory setting. Back up b4 u do.

If u suspect its fried, I suggest u open the back cover and see if there is any burnt mark - best if u can put your noose near it and check for burnt smell.

If nothing I doubt its fried.

Hey so I just go mine today, so when I boot up I should go to the Alienware Hive section & download all the drivers.

Probably games (I got the new C&C: Kane's Wrath expansion pack but not Tiberian Wars :D) then some work (so much, so little time). I'll finally be able to play Half-Life 2 on full smoothly, previously I had a Dell Laptop with an Intel card causing HL 2 to crash every 20min, my favourite game but my most frustrating.
