Does anyone use the the laptop for 3d rendering with max and the gtx8800? I dont know if I have decent settings on mine. Because the card is made for games there is no presets for max (antialiasing/ texture filtering etc.) And are you using the direct x or open gl at the start of max. If anyone tweaked theres for this and can give me some settings, that would be great.

The rendering process in 3ds Max is entirely CPU, it doesn't use the GPU at all. It does however use it for viewing inside the viewports.

yeah, the chip is great but I expected the viewports and esp. photoshop to be a little faster with rotating and panning, zooming in photoshop.
