I've heard lots of complaints and talk about problems with the m15x but i never hear anything about the m17x. is it perfect?!?!?!
-
no, its just too expensive and the same machine can be bought from dell or sager for less.
-
does the m17x hav any problems
-
check the reviews around here, there are some.
-
is the m9750 future proof?

Oodle-Bear Alienware Mug, Testpilot
It's almost perfect at the moment the worst "problems" are a loose Key (AW sent a new Keyboard to replace it with), Dodgy firmware for the command centre after a re-load (still being sorted but not a problem with hardware so...) & the worst comment, although not really relevant to the actual notebook seems to be...... the size or the power brick. It's the same size if not type as the XPS1730 uses... kinda big but, to be honest i'd have been surprised if it had been tiny with such a powerful machine.
As for the expense argument, try getting s machine of the same spec that looks as good... You'll find it hard to do so... at the moment.
Also the Uk prices aren't that expensive, mine's ordered and i fully loaded it for less than £4,000.00 so it's not too bad.
Just my 2p...

i wouldn't say so. If you want value and performance go for sager. i have an m15x and i regret buying it.
its a good machine and all, i just could have had better. -
You are kidding me!? 4000 GPB? For a laptop?
I'm shocked...
Oh well... what do you do for life? Play football? -
well the most gaming ill be doing graphics wise is gears of war so i dont really need the most advanced ever but i like alienware

No, £3483 lol
To me it's a desktop replacement. I will only have this machine and not another for gaming or such so the price is ok really.
It works out at half the USA price for the same spec machine, which is the exchange rate but, not increased becsue we're from the Uk like usually happens.
My original budget was £3,500 and i looked at Sager and others but even the 9626 fully loaded to the same spec wasn't much less...
When are you getting your m15x back Milcs?

i don't have one, but i was comparing prices and machines with comparable specs are avaliable from sager or dell for cheaper.
-
I'm still playing around with my m17x, so it's still a little new to have any problems. But I have zero buyers remorse on it. It was close to 5 grand in the end for it to be fully loaded and so far I love it.
Problem I have now, is that after seeing the keys light up in pink, my fiancee wants one /sigh. -
Just wanted to point out that the m15x and the m17x are not the same. The m17x seems to be perfect. I didn't see any problems with it (except for the weird CPU that I got). The m15x has 1 main problem IMO which is its build quality!
-
Had my M17X with Extreme cpu and 8800m gtx gpu's for 3 weeks. No problems to report. Except for the large power brick like it much better than the M15X i had previously. Posted review and pics on another thread.
-
hey tana wat you mean had??
and i would have to agree with ElSayed and tana the build quality is excellent on the m17x much better than what i have seen with the m15x (i do not know this personally unlike both ElSayed and tana) -
i had a M15X but after several fixes that did not work returned it for refund and got the 17X.
-
yea it is not perfect... if you have to reinstall windows without the AlienRespawn you will never get you keyboard lighting up because the drivers SUCK and the m17x then thinks the computer is a m15x
-
Hay pfctmitsubishi just call alienware Techs for some lighting. Some dont know how to get it working. But if you ask them to find someone on the tech crew if they know how to fix it. They will call them for help.
Yes the Power Brick is Large
