So as I mentioned in another thread, my m15x has a couple dents and some paint chips. Finally got around to getting a picture (or 4) of them. The hardest ones to actually see are the dent pictures, but my camera isn't exactly that great, however if you saw it in person you see that it's bad.

    Dent above CD:

Paint chip(s) of left side of lid:

Paint chip on right side of lid:

    Dent on back:

Treat this thing with absolute care! I can't stress this enough! The paint job/plastic material CAN NOT handle it! I am ALWAYS careful with it and things still happen. The bottom is also kinda scratched, and I tried to take a picture of it, but you really can't see it in the picture. Not that big of a deal either since it's just the bottom.

I dunno man, I've dropped plenty of stuff on mine without even a scratch in the clear coat. I'm thinking you may just have gotten a bad paint job (i.e. imperfect paint/clear coat)

i would call alienware about it, see if they will do something for you like exchange it. Claim the paintjob is bad and it has a dent and just complain to the manager and you will get it....otherwise, as long as you have a warranty, who cares, everything scratches and dents...thats like saying try not to scratch your psp or cell phone anywhere, impossible

My PSP, a little over 3 years old, got good use during the first year and some during the second, only a bit in the third year, and my 10 month-old iPhone don't have a scratch on them...

Well I've had the system since the beginning of February, I was one of the first to buy (which is why I have the X7900 CPU), so I'm way past my 30 days to replace it, and it's not "damaged", so they can't really "fix it" without replacing the entire chassis.

Contact Alienware-Steve or Alienware-Frank on these forums, or call Roswell support and see what they say. They'll probably replace your system for a better one.

or just let it chip, then do your own paintjob to it in the future. They have some sweet guides on how to do it, ive done one with a buddy of mine. Or get some touch up paint and fill the paint in. Either way it doesnt matter, you have one bad*** looking laptop and no one will notice those chips
just worry about protecting your screen, thats what matters. I know that many notebooks have issues of touching the keyboard when closed and slight pressure is applied...now thats something to worry about
