Has anyone used a notebook cooler for the m15x, and if so which one works the best?

using the zalman nc1000, and lowers temps from 3-5degrees. honestly, kinda of wished i didn't get it. the one thing thing i like is the elevation and tilt it gives me.

I read somewhere else that the zalman actually raises temps on the m15

The 3 coolers I've heard the best reviews from while being used with the m15x are Belkin's cooler (I use this myself, it's all right. I'm thinking about getting the NC2000), Zalman's NC2000, and the NZXT Cryo.

Remember that room temperature affects temperatures. People should state the room temperature if they can.

    I did test 3 coolers with the m15x, Belkin's cooler, the NC1000 & NC 2000.

I did get the best results with Belkin. I'm sorry I can't really remember the exact temperatures. The NC1000 & NC2000 though gave more or less the same temps.

Therefore, I would really recommend Belkin. Another plus is that it is also the cheapest, and lightest ( most portable ) of the bunch :)

Yeah, I'm not sure how good it is compared to other coolers as it's the only one I've ever used. cha seems to like it a lot. I'll probably either make my own or get the NC2000 later.

I'm using that same cooler. You can try and go for the others if you want.

I was able to try the NC1000 & NC2000 in my friend's computer shop. We compared temps with the Belkin and the Belkin gave me the lowest temps.

It's not really that big of a difference. More like a 2 or degree difference if I remember it correctly :)

If you look at the link in my sig. I have the notebook care & Maintenance guide, in that there's the link to the cooling central where all good reviews are located and advice for cooling.

From memory the best solution so far is to use lego and rais the m15x 2.5cm.....

    Good luck (",)

I have the Chillmat (or is it chillpad? I can't remember)... Works, but it's a bit small for the laptop... it barely fits on top of the cooler.

It works though, but I'd recommend going for something a bit larger.. mainly wider.

I'm surprised you say that when every review I've ever has stated otherwise, such as...

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zalman/ZM-NC2000/3.html

I have the NC2000 and it's a great looking bit of kit that does seem to work but don't expect miracles.

zalman lowers the temps pretty nicely. With a bit of AC on and the zalman i can get some pretty good idle temps since the nice cool air is being blown into the machine. With just the zalman on, the temps for cpu and gpu are around 5 degrees higher. this is with the nc1000

here is what i get with some ac and the zalman

ac just helps the zalman alot. the zalman sucks air in and blows it back out. the cooler the air the better the zalman will work. lets say your room is around 75 then the zalman should work pretty well. if your room is like 95 then there is no point in having the zalman on. as i said there is around a 5 - 7 degree difference when not using ac.

This could be the reason I got lower temps with the Belkin cooler. The place where I tested the 3 coolers was not air conditioned.

I just put mine on top of my AC vent in my room, ran 3dmark and it never got above 60C. Then 2 min later it was back down to 21C. now that is cooling. [IMG]
