I've read that it is pretty solid, but does it seem like it'll last more than 3 years? First laptop I've had (Asus) had problems about once a year or so with the gpu/motherboard, and I'm weary of getting another one if it won't last.

its the new version so nobody knows the full lifespan you can suck out of it. I do read and hear that it is a very solid machine and built very well. So if you take care of it...meaning you don't toss it, you clean it, you maintenance it like you would a car then I am sure you will get a great lifetime out of this laptop. Some things do go wrong...that is technology. If you don't have one of the bad apples of the stash then I am sure you will enjoy your time with it.

I must say I am very happy with Alienware customer support.
