Hey guys, running the m15x for 6 months now, and its been great so far. not a single thing to complain about.... except HD space that is :)

so, my 320 gigs ran out faster than I had anticipated, and im looking to add extra storage. I wont even look at AW's drives because i know that will cost a fortune, so I was thinking about getting just the HD casing from AW and putting in a hard drive myself.

my quesition: how hard is it to put the HD in that casing AW supplies ?

And also, would any 2.5" drive work with it... say something like the following:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136314

and last... has anyone seen any 1TB drives for notebooks?

    Thanks!

No, there's nothing hard at all about installing a hard drive. Are you going to use the Smart Bay? There's nowhere else to install one on the M15x. That 500GB is only a 5,400RPM, just so you know. Ha! This reminds me of a little over a year ago when they had barely started offering a 200GB notebook drive, and it was a dollar a gigabyte.

i dont think 1 TB notebook drives exist yet. 500 gig is plenty tho.

smart bay is really easy to install. Just open it plug the drive in, then format it and you are good to go.

500Gb is the largest notebook drives get right now. only way to circumvent this would be a USB/Firewire external HDD.

no because of the platter size and power i think they havent got it yet500 is the biggest. also theres no other internal hard drive bay find a smart bay and put a 320 in there again i think they still make 7200 320 and 360's ... external is a good option get a 1 tb but kinda big and hard to power off straight usb

500gb drives with 7200rpm are set to appear within a month or two. in fact, Seagate might already have one, can't quite remember. 7200.4 or something.
